thanks guys. its really appreciated.  however due to the difficulties with this bike, I've abandoned my plans. I advertised the bike the other night and it sold right away. now I've got brand new whitewalls, front shocks and driving lights I dont have a bike for. the 800 is probably less of a problem but we didnt get them in Australia.

also take an old Harley saddlebag bracket...bend it like the photo above   and add a roll bag for storage

Just find an old Harley seat...cut off the passenger pillion and roll the leather/vinyl over the back and pop rivet it.  cut two 'channels' for the frame ears.  Use fiberglass gel to cover holes. [not necessary as water will never get that high. and if it does,,,you got bigger problems as you just rode into a lake,,,not good]  you can buy cheap seat at any bike swap meet or ebay etc..

regarding the mounting points under the 2-up seat....unless you are using OEM type saddlebag brackets and/or the 2-up seat, the mounting points on both sides of the frame really are kind of useless....and unless you are using a solo seat that covers them up, they are quite exposed.  I use them to mount my rear rack and backrest pad with a Vulcan 1500 Classic seat....and with the saddlebag brackets.  this covers them up quite well and they don't look so obtrusive....I read about one guy that cut them off and then was asking how to mount some saddlebags after the fact...as it was said earlier, with the floating rear fender, your options are really limited.....

what_the?!

hello again,
well i decided to take the seat off and have a look at what was going on underneath this gnarly corbin solo seat that i have on my 1500.

and im shocked to see a great big ugly bracket which was obviously to hold up the banana and its an eyesore..so what to do?

ask here first, so here goes...has anyone came up with a decent, workable solo and pillion setup that has a removable pillion?..how about any permanent duo seats other than a banana?..

barring solutions there..im thinking of just cutting this monstrousity right off, welding a reinforcement bar between the shocks, and having a low sitting solo seat that might even extend, or work with a pillion seat..

the area where a solo can be fitted is quite flat and can have a cover made for it to facilitate a sprung seat, but i think alongside the shocks, a springer seat is overlkill and the ugly shock mounts will still be visible..

So im thinking some sort of existing H-D type heritage setup might work...does anyone here have any experience with this?..

cheers,

Tim
