I think I agree with you...the contrasting colors stand out more...but I do get a lot of compliments on the brown color scheme, too.  Since it is relatively easy to switch colors, I will most likely keep both sets and change it up once in a while.....the black chaps for the crash bar have been ordered, so I will have them on soon.  I like them for going on early season rides....

To me, the blacked version really compliments the bike, because it let that nice 2-tone pop up even more.

I love my swingin' bike!

I'm kinda leaning in that direction, too.  Plus, if I want to get a nice studded black trunk big enough for a couple of helmets, there are a lot more options in black than medium brown or tan....

Both look great, however I like the black.  8)

I have decided to alternate from Brown/Tan to Black, depending upon my mood....LOL  My wife found some 100% leather saddlebags that had never been mounted at a local thrift store.  Got them for $40 which left me a little $$ to finish going to full black on my 1500.  Picked up a NOS Classic seat for $120 delivered and added the studs.Total change-out time is 15 minutes.  I still need to get the matching lowers for the Lindby bar in black, but they're coming soon.... Can't decide which look I like better.....

Found something to fill in the empty space where the fender rail attaches to the front of the fender.  Was able to match the color pretty well.  Cost me $5 off of a seller on Pinterest (my wife found it for me).  I had to grind down the top and bottom a little to get it to fit, but at least now the gap is filled in a little.

no...very heavy duty vinyl.  but the quality seems very good....they offer lots of different styles of chaps, tank and fender bibs...located in Canada.  These cost me $147 delivered for the set.  They were the only ones I could find in brown for my Lindby multibar....

Looks like they're worth each cent you spent!  8)

Beautiful looking bike and love the Viking bags!  Nice job!

Really great job! Your bike looks brand new.  I love all the chrome bits and pieces that I cant even find any more! The fairing looks so natural on the Drifter....

Thanks for all the compliments....when I first bought the bike in November, 2017, it was with the intent of parting it out....there were a lot of hard to find parts on it and I know I would have easily made my money back....BUT...when I sat on it after unloading, I started thinking "hey...I might want to keep this thing!".  The repairs were fairly easy ( I have a full equipment shop loaded with tools), so after fixing the bad front bevel bearing, I started planning the paint and other items.  Plasti-dip got me through the riding season until it was time to "git er dun".  At first I was going to stick with one color (lower cost), but my wife actually told me to do the two-tone so it would look more vintage....go figure!  Any way, the paint was $1200 including stripping and sanding down the old paint....I am very happy how it turned out..and my daughter bought me the seat cover from Saddleline....I think it matches the two shades of brown/tan on the rest of the bike very nicely....I also added a speedo visor today...works perfectly (one for a Vulcan 900)  Last thing I need are the brown chaps for the Lindby Multibar....those are coming from SageBrush Designs....I really am itching to get it back out on the road, but we are having cold and rainy weather for the next couple of weeks.....

Beautiful job.  Every part looks outstanding.  Looks like a $20K Indian Vintage (but better)  I love those Viking Indian saddlebags. The front fairing looks like it was made for the Drifter.   Great job.....

the ones I have only say "Vulcan" in the top half....that's why I think they are for a 900.  I debated on using a War Bonnet tank sticker, but I have decided not to try and badge it like an Indian this time (like I did with my 800)  There are more and more new Indians on the road now, so I want to keep it as a Drifter as much as possible.  The only "Indian" type accessories are the copper Indian Head conches on the saddlebags....everything else is Vulcan or is going to be Drifter logo'd.  I don't want to "offend" any of the new Indian owners that spent $$$ on a Drifter Tribute bike...;-)

here are a few newer pics outside of the shop.  just added some fuel and it fired right up.  Now just need to change the oil and order the chaps for the Lindby bar and it will be ready to go...

Real nice, Seedman.    I like the tank badges too.  I have a set like it that I almost used on the 800.  Mine are off a 2000.   I think they used the same badge- but one says VN2000 and one says Vulcan.   I like the style of the badge.

I think that they are for a Vulcan 2000.  I couldn't find any OEM colored badges and these only say "Vulcan" on them, so I put them on.....I like the look as well.....

Actually...I have discovered that the tank badges are the ones used on the Vulcan 900.  I had found them on ebay with no model specified, but liked the look, so I ordered them ($20 for the set).  Had them on before I did the new paint....decided to put them back on, since they flow with the new paint scheme....
