Okay, so bottom-line... the OEM monoshock is available from Kawasaki by special order only.

Thanks for the info!

Expensive also.

Great news!  Freedom Powersports of Canton, GA came through.  I just picked up my mono shock, special order from Kawasaki in Japan.  $505 instead of $640 that I was quoted at other dealerships, and some online sources, and none of them could figure out how (or cared enough) to get it done!  Princess will be back on the road this weekend  8).

The Bride

Thanks much for that lead!  I'll follow up there if the Kawasaki Japan special order falls through.  12 days and counting...

Hagon in the UK sells mono-shocks for VN800 Drifters in two flavours - with or without hydraulic remote preload adjustment.

Hagon has been around for donkey's years, highly regarded, reputable company, well know for shocks for racing bikes.

I hope that's not just a "run-around"....    Hope it comes to you in TWO weeks!!

No Worries

Update:  I called a couple of dealers and found one parts guy who was interested in getting to the source of this backorder issue. He called Kawasaki. The story is that Kawasaki will sell the shock but only as a special order. So I went ahead and ordered one through Mr Helpful Parts Guy. I'll let you know in 3 weeks whether or not it arrives.  I'm hopeful!

The Bride

I'll go to CL and look, thanks!

There are some listed on ebay right now. I have heard folks have used VN800 (classic) monoshock after a little filing to make it fit.

Update...not good news!

Whether OEM or aftermarket (Provressive), the shock is on worldwide backorder with no estimated release date.

Anyone have a used but useable 800 monoshock they'd like to sell?

chief

That's a good question. Don't remember ever seeing that spec.

It's time to replace the rear shock on Princess, my 800 that's lowered 2".  My question is...does anyone know the OEM's spring rate?  Progressive's 465 is 400/450.  I'd like to compare before purchasing as I'm not looking for a stiffer/heavier rating.  My 110 lbs. of rider was happy with whatever the OEM had.
