Well thanks for the update I'm sorry that this summer is not too conducive as you say for riding. I've gotten loads of good riding in and hope to get more in the next couple of months.

Funny thing today I was approached by a gentleman in a parking lot asked me how I liked my Indian. I said it's okay and then he quickly determined that it was a Kawasaki which kind of shocked me. He said he has vintage 1940's Indian chief But he had no problem at all with my Kawasaki being badged as an Indian and furthermore congratulated me on a nice-looking bike  ;D

How is everybody's summer going? For me it's been great I've been riding both bikes everyday really for the last couple of months and today here in the Pacific Northwest it feels like the Sahara Desert or something it's 90-something degrees really too hot to ride. Anyways I know things aren't the same without Ratman but somebody out there give us an update.

I work. Then I work at home on imperative house or auto projects. Reaching saturation. Hope to get on my beloved 800 soon. Lately it just hasn't been conducive to  riding my motorcycles and I am JONESING right now, as I write this post from work with hours to go before I can leave with thunderstorms and high winds predicted for the hours after I get out of work.

I only have the 1500...sold the 800 a little while ago...the 1500 is much better in the coastal hills due to much greater torque and hp and it's also more stable for me on the highway....I don't have to down shift at all anymore on the hills...didn't get to go today, though, as I am behind on my research harvest and decided to work this weekend to get everything caught up.  I was able to finish everything today and just need to spend tomorrow cleaning up equipment and getting it put back away....

you taking your 800 or 1500?  I'd be on my bigger bike, on a long ride with others

Been on a few of early morning short runs around the coastal range, since it has been really hot here lately (90's +).....heading out on a large group ride this Saturday up to Mt. Hood/Government Camp , then down to Hood River in the Columbia Gorge and then back to Portland..then home.  Several Drifter riders are going..along with lots of Harleys and some Goldwings....should be great weather in the upper 70's to low 80's.  Will post some pics in the rides and places category when over....

Not much going on here except for a lot of rain too. :( Went on one ride a couple of weeks ago with two other guys to the Cherohala Skyway, Tellico Plains Tennessee to Robbinsville North Carolina. That's about it.

Typical bike forum with lots of activity a few months before riding season and then zip.
Did a  17 day,8000 km  epic pilgrimage to the arctic circle ,north of Fairbanks and back in june. Rode in snow, rain, dust storm ,brutal cross winds, and bear, moose, bison on road. Stopped at the bike event in Dawson city ( Dust to Dawn) on Solstice. Came back in one piece and wiser. No place for a Drifter. Roads are crappy to say the least. My 2016 dl650 took a beating. Did see Harleys, goldwings, victorys, lots of dual sports and even a fellow on a Vespa trying to get to Tuktoyaktuk.
Heard good and bad stories about the new road to Tuk. After 5 days at home we hopped on a plane and spent 10 days touring Newfoundland in a car. looks like a cool place to ride a bike. Didn't see many though.
Looking to beef up the jetting in my carb on the 800 as it still is lacking top end power even after switching back to the  17 t sprocket. That is why I was cruising the site today.

Hot here too, and we've had a lot of rain.   Been a man short at work for a few months, and the schedule has been busy - so its been a hectic pace.  Finally got a new guy hired a week ago, so starting to get dug out of the hole we've been in.  this is the 7th guy I've hired in the last year and a half....    people just dont want to work anymore.

Other than that, just keeping up...   not much time to ride or do much else lately.

No Worries
