I was thinking that if I can't find these valve cover accents then maybe I would chrome or machine the valve covers but that would be done if I pull the engine someday. In fact you could pick up some chrome ones fairly cheap on flea bay. If this involves dropping the engine it won't happen soon. Anyways check out Billy Joels Drifter, looks like he put something on the valve covers. https://motorbikewriter.com/billy-joel-rides-indian-motorcycle-in-911-parade/

Sorry to have to tell you this, but the engine must be either dropped down low enough, or removed to get the covers off

Aunt Tracy should be helping you with this. Are you going to do it at the new house or at Uncle Bob's shop?

Funny a lot of place I have read for the 800 tells you the engine has to come out of the frame, but it does not the rear one is a bit tight but you can just gently slide it around and don't rush and it will go into place.....

Hope someone helps you soon.....

I was wondering how much work is it to remove the valve covers off the 1500 motor? I see the 800 is quite doable but what about the 1500? Does one need to pull the engine in order to do so?
