  Have not gotten to that yet, but al going to be ready for a slow repair job on that part. I am staying home for the rest of the month so I have lots of tinkering time to get things done....best part of this is that I have done all these jobs / repairs on Red in the past couple years it is just a matter of remembering how I did them all and there is also all the reference material on this forum to remind me.

Sounds like progress....   have you found out yet, if the zerk fitting underneath is broken off, or just came out???

  So a large box of parts have been delivered to the powder coating place. The front end is ready to start to be removed soon. So next week is busy with physio and feedback and Dr's appointments, but I will be starting to remove the parts to be taken care of over the winter, and then I can start on the front springs, and bearings will all be done, wheels will be trued and then take for powder coating. Front hub cover is here, and spoke covers arrived. Company I ordered the risers from sent the wrong ones so now have to find the correct set and see if they will fit......the bolts are the wrong size.

Sweet and Clean looking machine.  Good find indeed.   Cool to have two.  I wonder how many members own two Drifter's?  I picked my second one up in the summer to have a set-up for Double seat and the other for solo seat use.  I take it your doing the same?  Have fun with it.  Beautiful looking Drifter.

Trall I beg your indulgence as I have been slack in posting my pictures, tonight I will forgo supper and get them posted for you.
I will have to check I do not remember a yellow two tone unless it is one I posted that I had seen.

I have a local person who has maintained the art of truing a spoked wheel and he will true it for me then off to the powder coaters. I am doing the rims and the spokes all black, and there is a reason for this and I will post pictures once the wheels are done and ready to remount, I will also replace all the wheel bearings at this time, as I do not know if they have ever been done. The perfect time to replace bearings and for the cost factor it is worth it.
This was a picture at the lads place when I bought it and the tank logo had to go so then it went....lol....second picture is at home...

Is that all?  LOl.  Thats quite the list to keep you busy this winter.  I must of missed some other posts.  You now are a member of the Two Drifter Ownership Club?  I checked your Gallery and did not see another posted, besides a yellow two tone. Another option on powder coating rims in they can do the spokes at the same time while there on the rim unless your looking for contrasting colors with spoke covers.

So for the winter projects this winter:

Red Bike:
oil change;
rad fluid change been 2 years;
valve check as I put on a bit over 10,000 kms this season;
check the tires for wear;
new mud flaps;
lug and grease all bearings;

Beige bike;
17959 km on the clock and not sure when anything was done so:
new rear shock;
new front springs;
new seat;
fix missing zerk fitting on the tie rod;
front engine guard;
LED spot lights;
Travel trunk;
new sprockets and chain;
powder coat rims;
spoke covers;
front hub cover;
Drifter Shifter;
front and rear hi vis lights;
paint job ideas;
handlebars;
stereo system;
not sure what else I am going to get done....or do.......

  What h bars?

if you mean handlebars, ah then you want to know what handlebars I am talking about.........Really good thing I speak Floridian. Last summer I sat on a 2017 Vulcan Classic, I found the bars to be really comfortable, and my hands were at the correct place it felt really nice. So I asked the parts lad to order me a set. I was told 2 weeks max. Figured I would have them for Rendezvous and time to get comfortable with them before my East Coast trip......so get a call the bars are in and surprise they are black so require no powder coating.....here was me thinking they were chrome......
Got up early one Sat morning took all the stuff off the bars, removed the bars, went downstairs to get the new bars. And I lay the old ones next to the new ones and then I stood there for like an hour staring at the bars.....they were identical......so go out and put my bike back together. Had planned a bunch of errands for Rendezvous. Went and did them then on Monday I returned the bars, well the owner wants me to pay a 25% restock fee, ah no, then I get them to order the correct bars, took 4 weeks for them to come in and they wanted me to pay another 25% more for the bars as they cost more.....ah no........and they are chrome, so now I will swap them out over the winter and try them out while watching a Panthers, or Lighting game and see if I see Jerry or Sherry in the stands...

if you read those over it is really a very simple and painless job. I am going to say the hardest part is to have the same pull on the feeler gauge at all times, and that you will only learn with practice and time. Make sure that the spark plug tube stays down in the engine otherwise you will never get the cover off. The rear cover is just a matter of really just moving it about and pissing around with it and it will simply fall into place. Comfortable chair to sit in or a lift so you can stand and be comfortable makes a big difference. My buddy who is a Kawasaki mechanic can do this in a few moments....seems to take forever to remove the seat, remove the tank, , remove the wires, remove the plugs, remove the covers, now it is easy....lol....

reminds me I should do/check the valves on mine this winter--never done it yet and I've clocked around 13K since I bought it in 2015.   Not looking forward to it but your thread makes it seem not too painful (except maybe that rear valve cover!)
