HD gaskets? I just bought the Kawasaki gaskets about 2 weeks ago, are the HD ones better? Once I've done the coasters I will do that next.

APlusDude

I'm sure you've probably already done this but have you tried replacing the exhaust gaskets for the backfiring issue? That's what finally did it for me on my 1500. Coasters didn't really do anything for me but it stopped completely when I replaced with HD gaskets and torqued them down and made sure there was no air leakage in that area.

Thanks Cousin Ratman, I bought the coasters and am planning on doing this mod also.

;D and to think I got to see it in person, and even touch it, mind you he did not let me sit on it, and I was not going to ask him.....lol.....it also sounds really nice. Colour is much nicer in person then in pictures on a computer.

Thanks for sharing.   Really cool mods and useful videos your doing.  One awesome looking Drifter.

I recall the horse power is just over 70. All I know is there is an improvement in giddy up and go!

Hope you find it RR. With the mods that I have done my seat of the pants estimate is 70-76 horsepower and 80-88 torque. Peak horsepower at 4,500 rpm's and peak torque at 2,500 rpm's. My mods are V&H long shots, opened air cleaner covers with K&N filters ( although I really do like the mod that you did and the one that one of the guys here did-I think Troll), elimination of all smog equipment (CA), removal of a unit that I had put on first a Magnum Research air temperature sensor and replaced with a Dobeck EJK module, elimination of reed valves using block off plates and removal of all associated parts. My guess on the occasional backfire on decel is (like my bike) is caused by the fact that they could probably only get this bike accepted by the EPA by installing fuel injection. The bike would run much better with carburetors but because of evaporation from the fuel bowls they had to use early injection to lean it up to qualify. One of my favorite bikes (although I never owned one) is a Kawasaki ZZR1200. They didn't even have injection until 2005. How they got away with that I don't know. Lean injection with timing retardation is the only way some of these bikes can be sold. I have eliminated on all of my bikes the timing retardation and through looking at the manual I can't find any indication where a module could be put in or an advance wheel in the timing unit that could be purchased. Anybody have experience with this?

Not sure what I did with the chart, I am in the process of getting ready to move and can't seem to find where I put it down.
Will post it when and if I find it. Now that I have driven it a few days I can say it really pulls a lot better! Feels like a new bike. I'm going to have to slow down before I get pulled over. Any body know what a stock bike produces in horse power?

What were the final stats horsepower/torque? Looking' good...

Oh, look...somebody copied my airbox design!

There's a place in Ajax Ontario called "Gator Auto Custom". http://www.gatorcustomautoperformance.com/
I added a Chucksters Air box kit to open up the air intake and the Road House Exhaust came with the bike so I thought I should add a fuel controller (Power Commander 3) to adjust the air fuel mix properly. In the Dyno video you can see the Tech pointing to a bar graph on the screen showing the air to fuel ratio, it goes into the red for a second as he tweaks it. There seems to be more torque and the fuel mileage should improve now. It also starts better cold? Very surprised to see that. Here is the installation of the Chuckster Air Box video.

Uncle Ronny where did you get this done?

Thanks for the post RR.

What's the backstory on the bike?  i.e. Fuel processor? Exhaust?, Intake? etc. ???

RockinRollin

Finally got the bike in for a fine tuning. The tech said it was running too rich which was a surprise, I thought it was going to be on the lean side. A little more horse power but the tech said I should expect better fuel millage now. Also the back firing on deceleration has improved but not totally gone yet.
