pp the bezel off and make sure the plugs are all tight going into the back of the speedo head and the 3 wire plug that runs the fuel gauge. The main plug goes into the instrument and the two other plugs are for the fuel pump (2 wires) and the fuel gauge/push me soon light

oh ok but the bike looks really good and the seat sure is a one off. There is enough people going to jump on this to help you and get that issue fixed.

I did notice the fuel says E but is full, light is not on though.

Went around the hood a few times, only up to 3rd gear.  Seat looks original but recovered, not leather.

When I picked my bike up it was only 175 miles away, and due to strikes on British rail and waiting for the next train it took me 11 hours to get to Birmingham uk , on the way home it only took 2 1/2  to get home, left at 6am got home at 8.30pm, still the ride home was nice.

Of course..when I was 10 yo I cut the forks off another bike and bolted them and extended the forks on my bike and made it into a chopper...

I have to admit, we did the same thing as kids.

    I really think we can all relate to the day we picked up or bike, and remember it pretty vividly. Even those that bought them on the issue date.
I drove 8 hours round trip to pick up mine and on the ride home kept looking in to the bed of the truck to check it out....lol....checked the tie downs every time we stopped.......lol.......

I drove about 500 miles to pick mine up.  After I got it home, I sat in the garage and stared at it for two days without sleeping.       My wives implored me to come back in the house.

I never got so whipped up about a purchase as I did for my Drifter.

Just called.  Its on its way,  be here in an hour or so.  It is ready to ride but i will still take it down to my local bike shop and have them go through it.  Can never be to careful on a new ride.

Is it going to be ready to ride? When I got mine I changed all the fluids... clutch, brake, oil, rear gear box, etc.
Installed new plugs, changed the air filter, checked age of tires and pressure. brake pads..
I know it only has 6K on it but it's still 14 yo.

  Yes perfectly normal, if you were making motorcycle noises very quietly that is fine also. Which helmet are you wearing? Of course you have your shades on and your riding boots. Everything is normal.......
Now I am a fan of Washbrook's vid's, and really like the ones he has made go fast....then I sit on my bike on a cold winter night, turn on the fans in the living room ,hook the computer to the big screen and play one of Washbrooks vids and ride along with them. I just need to figure out how to get the bike to lean on the curves and not tip over..........best part I can do this in my underwear or even my longjohns if it is really cold, but that is part of the winter and parking the bike in the living room......
