I came to an intersection near a bar and stopped at the light. When I started back up and used the hand shifter, a guy standing on a balcony above the bar was so mesmerized, he almost went over the railing.

I have Ted's shifter on my bike. Love it! It definitely gets a lot of looks and has people asking a lot of questions.

The war bonnet tank I bought from link below and I had local autobody shop apply and clear coat. Mine are gold leaf and they also have silver leaf sets. I really like the multi-color of the decals in the sun. They tie in all the colors on my bike from the red, gold, black and white colors.

You can also get them with or without Drifter name.

No problem there. The derby cover is only about 1/4" thick so that's all your adding. The derby cover is sitting directly on top of flat centered area air cleaner with two felt pads added to keep from metal to metal contact in case there was any vibration from riding. The outer three derby cover bolt area with fuel line used as spacer bolt covers is from the contour/bevel of air cleaner. So overall your only adding 1/4" thickness. No issues with legs at all.

P.S. I also have a painted 2nd air cleaner cover that I can change out for variety that has two bolt studs I added to air cleaner cover for small related medallions or smaller badges for variety as well. I am working on some of those now. Look back in this thread for those.

Here's the steps- Buy Indian Derby Cover found one on Ebay for $50 with free shipping, The Trophy Plaque Business engraver only did the words "Tribute" and "Drifter" for $15 cost. The Cover itself is called a Indian Derby Cover (Primary cover) from/for some Indian Motorcycles. I just retrofitted it to mount to my 800 air cleaner. I placed the Derby cover on the inside portion of my air cleaner cover, centered it, marked three holes, drilled out holes to 1/4", bought 1" length x 1/4" size chrome machine bolts with allen head tip, placed two furniture felt pads on front on air cover to keep near center bolt stem for air cleaner (to keep from metal and metal contact) screwed on three bolts onto the three nuts on inside of air cleaner, then used JB Weld epoxy and a small tip screwdriver and applied epoxy around all sides of the three nuts (don't have a welder), let set overnight and now can remove derby cover when needed to access air cleaner cover.

Place on air cover to bike and replaced acorn nut with standard nut for tighter clearance for Derby cover, center air cover with the tree holes that align to derby cover, tighten air cleaner cover, put on derby cover, make sure it's centered for lettering, add the three bolts with added 3 cut pieces of 1/2" length fuel line to the inside space of derby and air cleaner covers (just to cover bolts and look finished) and tighten to complete.

Overall fits my 800 well and looks great on the bike while paying homage to Indian.

Just search Ebay for Indian Art and various items come up now and then, just find sizes that will fit onto the air filter cover. The one on the bike now was a large belt buckle, grind off the buckle metal not needed on the backside and place and find and drill out two bolt holes that will fit right on the piece and on the air filter. Use two bolts, two lock washers, two acorn nuts to mount as studs on the air cleaner and add a few thin felt furniture pads as needed, to the backside of emblem if needed and mount with the two acorn nuts.......

Wow, are they (the air breather covers) all the same? I was wondering what kind of metal they were made of, I would love to powder coat mine white but the powder coating process involves an oven baking that probably caused the glue to run out. Good to know.

Here a few more covers I working on to have a variety to change to.

The second pic is of an really cool Indian Head warrior which might be the coolest one. Will see. It looks cool as it is or might go the Gold color for some more pop against the chrome parts of bike.

The third pic is a cool looking metal Indian head coin. It need repainted, so Iam going to have this powder coated gold to accent the gold pin stripping on the bike.

The first pic you see is at the engraver now and not sure how it will turn out. It's a Indian Derby Cover and the engraver is adding Tribute above the Center Indian name and adding Drifter below the Indian name. This is more of the Indianized by using Indian o the bike.

All of these I recently acquired and still working on finishing details for they can be mounted at times.

THX, It was powder coated but the business said because they are made with two pieces of metal glued together it was a pain to get it right and had to re-do it after the first time and glue leaking out of it. They then put it in an acid bath, then bake it for awhile to try and get all the glue residue out and then was able to powder coat paint it. Partzilla.com still has the OEM chrome available and I bought one to change the look at times. Also Iam going to have the maroon cover redone to a matching white and found a couple pieces to change out the center emblem with again for variety.
