I'm going with flat black to match the engine.

Excellent!
Ceramic coating is a great way to go, and black looks right to me on the 1999 & 2000 models

i tried the VHT primer and heat paint at first. sanded and etched the chrome, cured them on the bike. it looked good for a few months then it started to chip away in places. went to a local guy and he ceramic coated them. still looks good.

i looked for new black pipes as well...i couldn't find much.

sounds like there are a few coaters in your area. best way to go, i think.

...don't forget new exhaust gaskets.

I sent them off to Jet-Hot to be ceramic coated.

Bonehead did my wheels.  Very satisfied.  They are local to me.

They usually are heavily backlogged as they do very good work.

There seems to be a lot of Powder Coating places in the Sc area and so you should be able to find someone who can do either the powder or ceramic coating for you to your desire and wants.......

I'm struggling with my efforts to get the high temp pain to work on my V&H Long Shots.  Does anyone know of a decent set of black exhaust pipes I can get for my bike?
The only set I see that comes black from the factory is Road Burner Exhaust Kawasaki VN1500 RB-035-8040.  Does anyone know anything about these pipes, or where I can get a good set of black V&H or Cobras?
