Help with throttle?

check to see if you can see a date on your battery. It might need to be replaced as it could be old.

Thank you so much for your advise, it is greatly appreciated! I'm going to check the battery connections and also the battery itself and I will do what you said with the throttle tomorrow. Hopefully I will have an answer as to what is going on!

Thanks so much again, I will post on here when I find the issue, in hopes I find the issue! $:-\$

Ah yes well that does change things. so now you're thinking it's not a mechanical/carburetor but rather an electrical issue. I would say pursue that line until you're satisfied the electrical is right, and then if the problem persists go back to the throttle cable theory.

Thank you very much for your imput. I have something else I failed to mention because I didn't feel like it had anything to do with the throttle issue. Right after it did that surge thing we stopped at our local grocery store and when we came out my bike was dead. Took the seat off and tightened the nuts on the terminal of the battery. The one to the positive was a little bit loose and the bike started right up. Today I went to start the lights came on and it didn't start and then it was dead again! This is probably a stupid question but I don't know that is why i'm here, could the issue with the battery have anything to do with the throttle? I am going to check the charge tomorrow on the battery and if it's not good obviously get a new one.

that is a very perplexing one. the only thing I can think is that the zip tie kinked your cable inside so that you now turn the steering or hit a bump it's as if you're twisting the throttle. you should be able to test this standing still in neutral at an idle and turn the steering, revs should increase. at any rate it wasn't a good idea to zip tie to your throttle cable, so you may just want to go ahead and replace both of them now. just my 1.5 cents.

HI everyone,
I have searched all over internet for an answer and can't find one.
I am in desperate need of your expertise help!
So well riding my bike, I had the bike probably at a steady 60mph and all of a sudden the bike had like a surge of power on it's own. I didn't increase the throttle at all and it jerked real fast on it's own. It kind of felt like when you hit a bump and your hand hits the throttle faster? It's really hard to explain.
It's as if I cranked the throttle real hard to go faster but I never did that, I had it steady at about 60mph. It scared the crap out of me. I actually did hit a bump right before this started. It happened about 4 times on my way home.

The only thing that i may be able to associate this issue with is we had our yearly local Roar on the Shore where thousands of bike participate in a parade. They handed out flags to every bike. So I had no where to put this flag on my bike so a friend rigged it up and put it sideways behind my windsheild and zip-tied it to the two throttle cables. Keep in mind I drove the bike after I took off the flag two days later several places with no issue until I was driving home and hit that bump.

If anyone has any imput on this issue it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.....
