I'm in the same boat as you. I bought a set of Indian bags that I have been working on for some time. I thought about moving the bags up or forward but it would interfere with the seat and wouldn't look right.  What I decided to do is modify the rear fender stay (fender bracket) I found a piece of piping that is the same diameter as the tubing of the fender stay, next I will grind the back signal light holders off and extend the tubes up 1" and back 1.5" with a 45 degree bend in the extension so it clears my exhaust fins and the bags. Could you move your lights in to clear the bags? What about smaller custom lights?

I had the same problem and moved my bags forward a bit.  It did take much.  Take a measurement of the arc tat the bags would take under shock compression. and that will show you your minimum clearance.

Thanks DC, by Arc tat do you mean the impression left on the bag? If not, could you clarify please? Thanks. Realistically thought, these bags are pretty damn long. I might have to re route the lights. Any ideas? Thanks

Yeah I could, But I feel the bags would look weird being higher. I can't move them forward or they will hit the shocks.

Before you relocate the turn signals, can you move the bags forward or up?

Hey Guys,

Bought some nice saddleman soft bags. Problem is, they are too big. They sit about 2 inches above my tail lights so whenever I go over a bump the bags hit the lights. Any ideas on how to fix this? Can I move my tail lights ? and where if so? Thanks
