I found where it said the pics are not approved yet. Yeah, the Drifter is a sweet bike. Just ordered a highway bar for the front, and I am at work now fabricating saddlebag brackets. The little lady says this is "our" bike and that's fine with me! A few little comfort items and I could ride it anywhere. Love the handling! Love the looks I get as people see it passing by!

click on the "view gallery" under your name and it takes you to your gallery, then find add a picture, and follow the prompts, it is really simple, once you try it a few times.
I really like my 800 and am super happy with it. if you like your wife you could do a few small mods for her and she would have the near perfect bike.......

By the way, what's the trick to downloading pics to my gallery? Thought I downloaded some last night but they aren't there.

rpoturica

Definately will look into the sprocket swap. I have Hardkrome American Classic pipes on the way. She likes 'em loud. I've been riding it lately as I'm waiting on some parts to be delivered for my bike, and I'm enjoying it! Just can't get over how light it is. My Trumpet weighs a ton!

I took my seat to a local lad and had him customize the seat the way I wanted it and now it is really comfortable. I too found the stock seat to be really wide and so a little sculpting and some gel and memory foam really made a difference. Also if she is going to do long distances you might want to do the sprocket swap and that made a really nice difference and such an inexpensive mod.

It was my ass that hurt. It doesn't bother her. Hell, she rode a 600 Shadow 3200 miles to Sturgis and back without complaining! I did need to lower the Drifter a little for her but the seat is a little wide and she's not comfortable with her feet not flat on the ground. I'm gonna shave a little of the sides of the seat and that should do it. I'd really like to see her ride the Drifter on the long hauls. She's just real attached to that old Shadow!

but the ol' ass gets sore pretty quick.

perhaps because you been babied for to long, 7 to 8 hours a day in the saddle is not a big deal, perhaps if you did the sprocket swap for her it would be that much nicer for her if you really cared about her well being.......

Greenbarn, we definitely should hook and and ride. Yeah, I bought this 800 for the little lady, but I've kinda been hogging it lately. Nice handling bike, light as a feather! Fun to ride, but the ol' ass gets sore pretty quick. Cant beat the comfort and power of the Triumph. 1700cc's, and cushy as hell! Working on saddlebag brackets for the Drifter now, should be done soon. will be for the solo seat. I'll post pics when I'm done.

Yea, but he's riding a Triumph....  His wife is on the 800....    I just figured with all the attention the Drifter is bound to get, he'll want another one, either a 1500 or another 800... 8)

8) Another 0hi0 person.....that is cool.......GreenBarn will now have people to ride with......

.... hate to tell you this but after your first ride with your spouse you will not be a happy man again. You will be frustrated in that no one will want to talk to you or look at your ride.........

I see a Drifter 1500 in  your future...  ;)

rpturica hate to tell you this but after your first ride with your spouse you will not be a happy man again. You will be frustrated in that no one will want to talk to you or look at your ride, they will all flock to her and make her the center of attention, and she will be inundated with questions and comments, albeit some might not be good but she will be the center of the world.
Once you ride that sweet 800 you will fall in love with the machine it is so much fun to ride, so easy to maintain, and runs for ever.........

heck just checked google and you are only an hour from GB and so you can met up easy and get some real riding in with him...

Hey all! Just got signed up. Bought the little lady a 2004 800 Drifter the other day. 3600 miles on the clock. Hope to learn a few things here, and also share a few things. Gonna try to make a set of saddlebag brackets and will post if it works out. Ride safe!
