Ratman, That's funny!  No TV show-ship for me.  Already had enough bad experiences (yes more than one) with those guys and a motor home I needed moved from Detroit to Melbourne, FL.

Troll,  Thanks for the insight.  That's good news on the fuel line since I keep a couple spools of SAE30R9 Injection hose around and Fuel Injection specific clamps too.  As long as it is 5/16 or 3/8 I'm good otherwise it's a trip to the parts store.  Either way it looks like I might be able to ride tomorrow.  :)

There are two lines that connect. One is pressure, and if it was leaking, it would SPRAY ALL OVER...and the other is return to the tank through a small check valve. The pressure line is retained by a screw clamp like any normal fuel line on the throttle body end, and with a spring lock fitting on the bottom of the tank. If the line is bad, you don't need to use a special part, you can get bulk fuel injection hose at an auto parts store, and an "injection" clamp. Parts wise, your looking at under $10. If it's the return line, then it's secured with a couple of spring clamps and it's just normal fuel line, since there is very little pressure. Remove the left side air box and base, and you will be able to see both hoses...

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!

The transporter called and it looks like it will be here tomorrow afternoon.  I'm excited but already let down...

He informed me the first order of business is to deal with a fuel leak that the seller did not bother to disclose until it was on the way into the trailer.  Supposedly it is the line between the throttle body and tank and it has a crack in it.  I suspect the hose is a victim of 10% ethanol in the gas.

I will keep you guys posted.

Now see......you're doing it right!

You haven't even got the bike yet, but you've got a pic up!  .....and she's a looker too!

You go ahead and ask questions.  We love them!  And I'll tell you what......you probably won't find any group that's more knowledgable about these rare bikes anywhere!

Hi all,

I'm a new owner as of last week and will have my 2001 Drifter 1500 in the next day or two.  I bought it from a guy in MS and it is currently on the transport on the way here.  I'm looking forward to get back into riding after a three year absence.

I've owned a few bikes from different categories over the last 25 years.  I've had a 600 CC "Crotch Rocket", Heritage Soft Tail Classic, V-Rod, and a Suzuki V-Strom.  The style of this bike is what appeals to me.  I know that when I park it there won't be another one like it in the lot.

The bike already has a windshield and pipes but I will need to find the right set of bags for it.  Hopefully I don't drive you all to crazy with questions.
