Flipped running lights.

My OE lights rubbed on the windshield so when I bought a replacement I took a heat gun and reshaped the bottom slightly to get more clearance.

I have the windscreen that was OME when the PO bought the bike, and I added the F&S light bar with their spots, and there is not a lot of room between the screen and the spot housings, I might be able to make the screen more up right but then that is not right either.

It is tough to judge from the photo but those light housings look a bit larger than the OE lights on my bike. If so then they would be tough to mount topside and not hit even the stock the windshield.

one would say you are correct but we have seen thing that are done and work for people.....so thought I would just ask......

Troll I am thinking that your are right because even my lowers hit the engine guard, and had to make a mod for them......

I looked at my 1500...I believe the lights would hit the guard bar at full lock....seems to me I already investigated this a few years ago..

Well in that picture the light bar looks like it is mount correctly and that he just inverted the lights, then a nice shiny acorn nut on top would work or a powder coated on in my case. Nice idea if you want to mount a different wind screen, food for thought over the winter also......

There could be some advantages there. Living in the rainy UK, we would have to be very careful about sealing the cable against water ingress.

If you had a close up I would not have to ask this question, but did he just mount the lights upside down, or did he invert the bar itself?

That's actually a pretty good look, KF. I'm not sure mine will fit that way on my new light bar, but I think I'll check it out.

The previous owner of my Drifter did a few interesting modifications to the bike. The first was that he flipped the running lights to the bottom of the light bar. This gave him room for a Harley windscreen that he cut down just a little bit. I did not notice that the lights were mounted differently that everyone else for a while.
