I'm trying to figure out how they managed to mess up the inside part of the wheel and none of the rest of the wheel. Or anything underneath the car. Also how the tire is damaged after taking a hit like that.

This came in  with a high-school aged girl, or maybe just out of school, and she had another rim and asked us to change over her tire on the new/used rim.  Funny thing is, she had been driving on it for "a while" (I asked her) until she could find another rim.   Amazes me - if it were mine, it would have blown out on the spot.

This wheel came in the shop - on a car - with a tire on it - with air in the tire.   How it didn't blow out is beyond me.  It should have by all rights...   You could see the tire bead through the split in the wheel.
