ROFLMAO, but I think I would have been in that category also had I not seen this bike for sale.

After you tell them it is a Kaw, then the best reaction is " Are you Sure?", I then say I think so.

How ironic!   I stopped at MickeyD's this past weekend and when I was leaving,  some guy came over to me and said "Indian always made the most beautiful bikes...what year is it?"  I told him it's a 2001 which he couldn't believe then I waited a few moments and said "Kawasaki".   He literally did not believe me until I showed him the tank emblems.

9 times out of 10 I get "Nice Indian" from someone.  It's always fun to correct them and then tell them how much I have in it and watch them pick their jaw up off of the floor.

The biggest thing that you'll notice right off the bat is that you won't be able to stop anywhere without somebody walking up to talk to you about the bike.  I'm serious, and these guys will back me up on this.  I've been sitting at traffic lights and the guy in the next lane rolls down his window and wants to talk!  Stopping at a gas station is almost always going to take longer then you think.  If you don't like some attention, don't get a Drifter!

The Drifter will get you stopped a lot, especially if it's debadged.  Mine came to me debadged, and so far in the last 7 years only one person has walked up to me and correctly identified it as a Drifter, and he owned a Kawasaki Classic.

LMAO, that's funny. But I imagine it's true, I get a little attention now with my bike set up as it is, some people think it's a heritage at first glance, then they see Shadow and ask if it's stock.

Welcome, i cant help you in price as i live in a different country but if it was over here it would be a lot more than that. These bikes are pretty much old school the engines have been around a long time and are tough reliable units. i suppose with any mechanical device especially as they get older the odd niggling fault will arise, i am a firm believer change the oil and filter on a regular basis and it will run for a long long time. The bikes themselves are just fantastic drawing attention wherever you leave them. i can confidently say if you buy one you won't regret it.

So I am new here, because I am searching for info on 1500 Drifters. I am considering trading up from my 2000 Honda Shadow 750 ACE to a 1999 Drifter 1500 with 44k miles, asking price is $2600 dollars, it has saddle bags, a windshield and fringe everywhere.
Is there anything specific I should ask or look for when talking to the salesman or test riding this bike? Is there anything special about maintaining these bikes, expense or difficulty in finding parts? has anyone ever put anything like a trunk or tour pack on one of these?
Any help would be appreciated, even if it's not something I have asked here, especially if I haven't asked and am missing something.
I posted in the guest section earlier but couldn't figure out how to reply to questions asked there so here I am now a registered member
How many miles can one expect from these bikes?
I am going to look at this bike tomorrow morning.
so far I like what I am seeing in this forum and what I am reading about these bikes
