When I bought my bike it was fine 1 up but bottomed out occasionally two up. I tried more air and stiffening up the spring pressure to no avail. I changed the rear shocks to progressive HD shocks and that transformed the handling. I think after 30k miles the others were shot.

Buy a long wool sheepskin, shape it to fit the seat

Long rides the sheepskin is nice to have. Sells for around $40.00 at Ikea.

Depends upon the passenger, the seat, and the suspension. Mine handles very well with a passenger - I moved to the Progressive 440's for two-up riding.

I have a Corbin seat, backrest (passenger and driver), and passenger floorboards. My wife has MS so the foot position simply doesn't work for her. The (real) Corbin two-up slopes forward into the driver so the passenger has to keep adjusting. I tried a different seat, but nothing made it comfortable enough for her to ride for more than an hour. (So we bought the Goldwing.)
Others have ridden with me with no problems.

Ooh look, 1000 posts mostly about rubbish..

If it makes you feel better, that's not nearly as much rubbish as I've slung around here! :D

Buy a long wool sheepskin, shape it to fit the seat and punch eyelet holes every three inches around the edge, fit it to the seat using elasticated cord and it will make the bike 100% more comfortable for both of you, buy a metal toothed pet brush to keep it looking like new.

I have progressive shocks  :)

Air up the rear shocks and set the damper on 4.  That will help a lot!

I have never rode anyone on the back of my 1500 but plan on it some this summer. Are the 1500's comfortable for a passenger and how do they handle. Just wondering with the passenger seat sitting up so high. I have a Corbin seat with one backrest for passenger. Anything I should do to set the bike up for 2? Thanks
