ok back to the loud horn or pipes thing....... I asked one of the lads at work who has excessively loud pipes why? His story it will save his life......so my next question to him was this....
You are heading south, your pipes are pointing north then, other then in the city, were there is far too much noise anyway, but if you are travelling south at 55mph and your pipes are facing north, how can any vehicles coming from the south hear your pipes? In this case lights will save your life more then the pipes.......he just grunted and never gave me an answer............

It is amazing to me how many people are packing pocket pistols all the time now

If they're legally concealed carrying, purely from a statistics point of view you should be more worried about police officers. (This is in no way shape or form talking badly about police officers, just an interesting tidbit).

I wouldn't call my 1911 a pocket pistol...but it goes everywhere with me..

Please don't hate me for saying this, but that is a great road rage tool.  It might bring out other road rage haters in the area.

That was exactly my first thought.

You toot that horn at the wrong person and they will whip out their gun and silence you instantly.

And then their brain will kick in that maybe they shouldn't have done that...

Just my opinion, but some red necks already dislike motorcycles, now add a big old target on ya.

Must be different up north then, the rednecks down here (of which I have been accused of being numerous times lol) usually don't mind motorcycles. Now a toyota prius or a smart car, those they don't like.

I hope that doesn't happen.

Evasive driving works for me.  Drivers just didn't see you for whatever the reason.  Loud pipes don't save lives.  Defensive driving does.

Perhaps the flashing headlight/tail light might be of value.

Yeah, well...ok. If you think this will actually make a difference...Personally, I take what ever evasive action and/or precautions in a situation and then, if there's time AFTERWARD, the horn as a signal of displeasure. I find myself using the horn in the car more than on the bike. 3 times, so far this year, since the car is not as nimble as the bike, and the low traction due to the ice limits true evasive actions.

LOL both are pretty cool, but the one see the size of the air tank in the side car...lol.......use that on a drifter and it might stop you from forward motion.....lol
