Not sure yours would work...  this one is going on the 800 on a corbin solo.

Thinking of maybe 1/2" brass round stock...  Either that or black

No problem...you going to chrome or powder coat it.
I will send you my seat rail to use for a template if you need me to.

[/img][/img]True, those BB bags are not cheap, but they sure look good.  Check out all the old HD's with them on.

I'm concerned, too, how they'll fit with the shocks.  Time will tell.   This project is on the back burner, since i'm in the middle of re-doing the 800.

I do like those BB repro bags, too.   That's a lot more than I had to pay for the HD bags, though..

The Road King Classic bags don't look bad.  Might be a tad big and might not fit well because of the shocks, but the shape is great.  If total carrying size is only an occasional problem you might look into something more period looking.

Well, I found some HD bags I bought at the swap meet....    If I don't like them up against the Drifter, they'll be up for sale.

Have you seen them mounted on a 1500? They are quite small top to bottom but very wide....about 2 axe handles wide, if you get my Drift!

Can someone with a solo seat rail measure the OD of the tubing for me?  I'm wanting to fabricate one, and I thought I'd better get the low-down on the size so I don't have to guess.  Looks like about 3/8-1/2" in the various  pics I have found...    I'm guessing they might vary from one to the next.

A picture to go along with your measurements would be appreciated as well...

Thanks in advance....

Ok, what are you after?

Hmmm.....  My F&S leather bags, although I like the look OK, are not big enough.  I think the hard bags with leather covering is a good compromise between usefulness and extra space while still looking nice on the bike ( with the leather).... If the shape blends in well enough.

I haven't asked the boss yet.

Ok, what are you after? Which do you like or better which is the Boss's favorite, do as she said and peace will remain in your home!.......

These are HD Road King leather hard bags.  I scaled them to the best that I can, based on some e-bay sellers dimensions.  I thought they might look acceptable on the 1500, any ideas???

I believe the bags shown "mounted" on the bike are referred to as the "classic" version, and the extra bag floating around there on the left side view is the "custom" version.  I think I like the lines of the classic one better against the fender.

These are widely available, it seems, at a fairly reasonable price.

Thoughts.... opinions....
