I have to second the Michelin Commander ll's as good tires, I had mine fitted last month and have scraped the studs at the bottom of my floorboards without even noticing, they are worth buying..

For Wide Whites, Continental Milestones are great tires that last forever, and a few thousand ago I put on Shinko 777's and I'm liking them real well so far.  Metzlers were nice and sticky, but they wore out quickly and were ultra sensitive to correct tire pressure.  I got off by a couple of pounds for a week or so and I had cupping that was noticeable when riding, and that's just too sensitive for me.

Trust me.....you do indeed! I will never part with this bike as long as I have breath! All others may come or go. This one will continue on. The photos came when we swapped out frames because of a get-off several years back. While we were at it, we replaced headstock and swing arm bearings, dropped in ZX11 cams and springs and swapped for a ZX11 ECU. Now it red-lines at 11.5K. That puts it at 100mph in second gear with stock gearing. This thing is a blast to ride and comfortable too!

No whitewalls, just outstanding performance and longevity....and they are a LOT CHEAPER THAN THE METZELERS...and last longer....

If I were you, I'd replace that tire....and I know just what would work quite well....After being a confirmed Metzeler user for 30 years, I replaced the Marathons with Michelin Commander IIs....My rear isn't as worn as yours and currently has 22,000 miles on it.....hard miles...500+ miles a day miles...twisty, done the Dragon twice in two years miles....and I live 1,000 miles away from it!   I don't own a trailer, either...

you are absolutely correct I need tires the front is a new cheapie the po put on an the rear is the factory so sadly I have 1 white wall and 1 not white wall :-( thanks gor the tip on Michelin commander ll tires now I know what to look for without digging through old threads are the michelins white walls?   I bought the bike used and not sure of when or how well things had been done so last winter I took a bold step knowing I had some really competent people close at hand and I replaced the rear shock, replaced the front springs, and did all the bearings and places that needed checking, and so now I have learned about my bike I know how it works and what it needs doing.... oh and I am not a mechanic so it was a real learning process, but it was fun to sit in the house over the winter and tinker on it, and learn at the same time.

Ratman what lead to you stripping fown your drifter in the picture?  Just paint or were you doing high mileage overhaul?

Ok so while I have my bike stripped completely naked looking beautiful like a center fold now is a great time to get pictures from from every angle you guys can dream up. Point beimg if someone is thinking of or getting ready to do a project. Post what pic you want me to take. Example you want to know what the top frame set looks like with take off or how much clearance b/w valve cover an frame an what the bolt pattern looks like to change leaking v.c. gasket. I am going to hawaii for a week monday. But today I will take several pics after work. This is a good chance for people to get a look at what your bike looks like OR what you have to look out for before any tear down of your own. What do you guys think? Or is there already a thread like this an I should just delete this one?
