Well Drift In 2014 is in the books and for those who attended it was great to see you. For those who did not or could not Heidi (Dimples) and I (Ron Dancing Bear) Ottow sure hope to see you at the Drift In 2015 Pikeville, Kentucky July 20 thru July 24 2015.

You can contact the Landmark Inn at 606-432-2545 to book your room now. You must tell them you are with VDOG and/or the Vulcan Drifter riders group to reserve a room.

Heidi and I left Maggie Valley, went to visit Her father then left Brevard, North Carolina and rode to Pikeville, Kentucky. We have tied down where we are staying, it is Landmark Inn. We have tied down the rate at 70.00 per night which includes as follows:

 • Newly renovated rooms. This rate is down from a high of over 100.00 per night plus tax. Our rate includes tax and is for either 2 beds in the room or a king
 • A night club on the premises
 • A full bar with rooftop seating outside and a fire gas fire pit outside.
 • A complete restaurant all renovated with home cooking and very reasonable. Heidi and I ate there and we had more food than we could eat. It was wonderful and is prepared by a chef.
 • A banquet room, where we will be holding our banquet so we do not have to ride anywhere else.
 • There is a huge paved parking lot and the General Manager ( Murrell Wisdom) has agreed to block off a significant amount of space so we may have room to park trailers and vehicles as well as a significant area to have the Dog Pound.

Heidi and I have spoken with the Pikeville Police and they will escort a ride for our charity as follows: The Landmark has just recently been designated as the host hotel for the families who have children in the hospital in Pikeville, which is also affiliated with Mayo Clinic. There is a special part of the hospital with specialist for the sickest of the sick children. The Landmark provides space for the parents and immediate families to stay when coming from out of town. The reason for this is because the hotel is also part of the extensive medical group including a state of the art cancer facility.

All of the money raised from the events that Heidi and I are planning will go to help the families with expenses such as food and necessary items needed while being in town with their sick child.

Heidi and I have spoken with several business owners, while we were there, and the ones we have spoken with so far are very interested in what we are doing. We already have commitments for donations from a local coffee shop downtown.

NOTE: for those who like coffee a must visit to Roasted, LLC is a must! Heidi and I enjoy our coffee and it is WONDERFUL! We spoke extensively with the owner James Sword and his wife. Fantastic people. They have a lot of different teas, coffee, pastries and a fantastic atmosphere.

The forums limit the time to 30 minutes, but I will answer any questions I can if you text me at 574-207-3829 or call me or send an email to mstillalive@yahoo.com subject 2015 Drift In on all contacts please.

Heidi and I are going back for 3 days in October to finalize some things.

As of now we have on board
(1) Landmark Inn
(2) Pikeville Police Dept
(3) Pikeville Powersports (The Kawasaki dealership who has agreed to do the judging at the bike show, sponsor a meet and greet at the dealership with the owners and all staff over cold drinks, hamburgers and hotdogs. They have agreed to be the dealership we go to for repairs needed. Heidi and I will tie down the exact discounts and let everyone know. Contact people are Joe Spears and Gary Spears.
(4) For our Harley riders we have not forgotten you. Harley-Davidson of Pikeville will be donating raffle item(s) and will help our Harley riders with anything needed while in Pikeville. Contact Shawn Blackburn, General manager or Vicki Sawyers, assistant Motor Clothes Manager
The hospital has been contacted and the events coordinator is to get back to us, but the hospital is on board. The reason we need to tie down some things with the coordinator is because the Pikeville Police will escort a ride to the hospital so we may meet staff and children and any of the children's parents who may be there at this time. Any children who are well enough to be outside at the time, we are hoping will be outside to greet us as we arrive with police escort.

Heidi and I are excited to be hosting this wonderful event and are so excited to see everyone there.

While eating at the restaurant the other evening Heidi saw a Drifter going North on 23, which gave us an idea. When we are there in October we are going to visit with the local radio and t v station as well as the newspaper to send out a plea for all Drifter owners within the area they service to join us.

There are many things in the works and I will keep this forums posted as things happen.
Please, contact the hotel, they have blocked 50 rooms for now and we may be able to get more, but they have a contract with the railroad and must keep 24 rooms for them.

Please, let the hotel know you are with VDOG or Vulcan Drifter riders group or you will not be able to get this all included rate of 70.00 per night.

Heidi and I look forward to talking with you, working with you, laughing with you and enjoying a wonderful time in the Appalachian Mountains with all of you. Talk with all again soon.

Dancing Bear and Dimples out for now
