LOL.  Ya, pretty dumb!  I had siphoned most the gas out of the full tank (it never occurred to me that I got it all out) a few weeks ago so I could pull the tank easier in order to inspect the coolant hose clamps.  Kind of forgot all about that when I rolled the bike out yesterday.

Ya it's a bit late in the 'everywhere else' season but I have several bikes and I only ever ride the Drifter when it's nice out which is basically July and August in Vancouver so I only insure it for the minimum time which is three months (I actually went for 4 months this year, crossing my fingers that Sept/Oct might be nice).

As a point of interest: when I was troubleshooting the no start condition (using the idiots guide to trouble shooting),  I did discover another broke female pin in one of the ECU connectors.  Some of you may have seen an earlier post (a few years ago - and maybe on another forum) where I had told of having to change all the female pins in both ECU connectors as they had corroded to the point were the 'springs' on the female pins, the part that make the contact with the male pin, were all broken.  In any case, when I replaced the pins, I didn't actually do them all because one of them I had already changed out using a wire from an old harness before I received my pin crimping kit an pins.  So this time, it was the pin on that old bit of wire harness that broke (which curiously was the same broken pin that caused the only other no start condition I've ever had).  I've never heard of any other Vulcan owner experiencing corrosion problems with the pins - not sure why I'm special - maybe the moist salt air on the coast- but if that was it, why aren't other coastal Vulcan owners suffering?

Anyway, it all seems good now.  I took it out for a ride last night, carefully marking the coolant level before I left so that I could check if my hose tightening exercise was successful - I'll know when I get home from work tonight.

at least you were not far from home when you ran out of gas.............

GPS is not to get you THERE but rather to get you home from THERE

Middle of July and you're just getting the bike out of winter storage?

After 4 hours of troubleshooting was it time to put it back in winter storage again?

Next year..... when getting the bike out of storage.... instead of trouble shooting a no-start condition for 4 hours, check to see if there's gas in the tank.   (Don't ask).  :o
