Yep I am getting current from that line ..  Got the tank off now going to check relays as soon as I figure out how ;)
Is this a fuel pump relay ?

Troll

That yellow/black wire is the computer signal wire....

ok
What do you want?

I can post a pic here if someone explains to me how ?  ;)

There are a couple of ignition switch related mods in the Mods/Tips section of the website. Here is one with the Thunder switch diagram...

Which 2 wire ? The one under the speedo that runs directly to the fuel pump? It should run for 2 seconds to pressurize the fuel rail and then shut off, if the engine isn't started. It will run constantly when the computer sees a tach signal from the engine.  If the power is present at the plug, then the fuel pump is misbehaving. Disconnect the plug, and take a test light across the connector to be sure you have ground, too. If that's all good, then the problem must lie inside the tank or with the wiring harness to the pump. Do you have a DVOM?

Ok had power on the two wire... I did get a clicking sound under the tank even with the key out of the bike.  Had to click the key a few times to get it to stop.

Troll

Sure will, the starter is independent of the EFI. Here's a wiring diagram from the service manual. I'll bet the ign switch on yours has 3 wires...a smaller gauge yellow one? That's the double secret probation wire....Pop off the speedo assy, and check for voltage at the 2 wire connector under the cover...it's the one with the arrow pointing to it. If there is no power there, then you are not signaling the computer...I spent my adult working life diagnosing and repairing electrical problems on all kinds of vehicles, so this will get my brain working again...thanks for the challenge!

Would it turn over with efi fuse blown ?

Troll

See my post about the fuel pump....BUT it is possible the pump failed, or the EFI fuse is blown...time to start checking. You have a test light?

It's a 2001 drifter 1500 it's weird the  lights all come on the bike turns over I just don't hear the fuel pump priming.  I took the ignition switch apart it's fairly simple everything is clean in there.  Avy suggestions would be good.

Partzilla says it's the same part number...electrically, all these VN1500s are pretty much the same..

I have a thunder switch, but I'm using it to turn on my amplifier. I put a factory switch in after replacing the fuel pump, and then ALMOST replacing the computer.....The secret connection is, as I remember, listed in the service manual as unused terminal 5  on the computer, and it requires a 5v signal...thunder should have the wiring schematic to help you...

Harleymanz

Do you still have that switch ?

Troll

no....There is a special circuit in the computer that MUST see the correct voltage in order to verify that the ignition switch has not been tampered with. This is hard won information that cost me a fuel pump replacement I didn't need to do. Go to the thunder manufacturing web site and see if they have installation instructions for their ign. switch kit, that will tell you which wire has to have a resistor in it to fool the computer.

Any way if can just bypass my ignition switch ?
