JUST like mine...color and all. It's an R-1 if anybody else asks...Those clutch switches are pretty easily disconnected, so if you need a new one, be aware that any of the Vulcan injected switches are the same...

I pulled the switch off and noticed the plastic tab that holds it into the wiring was broken off, probably did it when I pulled the handle bars off.  I was able to get it working by moving the cable closer and replacing the zip tie.  So I will probably find a new switch.
It's a 2001 Oxblood/Ivory, not sure of the model number.
thanks for the suggestions.

Sounds like a dirty or faulty safety switch to me.

What year/model is it? I have wiring diagrams for the R model....

Probably a simple fix, but I don't know yet what it is.
Fired up the bike, 2001 1500 Drifter just now, pulled out the chock, and I started right up after not starting since November.  But will only fire in neutral with the clutch out.
If I have it in neutral or in gear with the clutch pulled, it will not engage the starter.
In the fall I did have the front end off and replaced the fork springs and lubed the bearings.
After that I did take it out for a test ride, but not since.  What should I be looking for?
Winter storage was in my garage, not heated, but not below freezing.
thanks, Mike
