800 Seat

    I was thinking of setting up my tripod and getting a picture of me sitting on it so you can see how I "fit" into the seat.........

The seat looks great, and hopefully it will be as comfortable as it is good looking.

  Ken the lad doing the work has a shed full of different bike seats, every bike he recovers he makes a spare cover and has it in stock, in one of his outbuildings is about 300 motorcycle seats of different vintages and models and he can find them if you ask for one. He also has a place with the original foam from bikes and they are marked and labelled. He is a one man operation and does take some time to get it done. Also around here the season does take precedence on what is getting worked on. The physical looks of the seat are very appealing, it looks custom and looks really comfortable.
He has 60's something Sportster he is slowly building into a WWII dispatch rider bike.....remember that.......he has a Gold Wing parked outside under a tarp, not sure what he is doing with it , he is not...... in another outbuilding there is a easy 12 to 15 bikes for parts, or what every one needs.
Ken quoted me a price for me seat with the taxes out the door way back in the fall when I first talked to him with my ideas.
I have a buddy who runs the ranges around here, and so I called him and asked him for 2 of the large ammo boxes, 2 of the med ones and 2 of the small ones. Just after xmas he called me and had my boxes, no cost to me, he already owed me a few favours. So when I took my seat out to get done, I dropped off the boxes, told Ken here for your bike if you need them, he called me that my seat was ready, told him I was not really mobile at the present time because of medical issue, so he delivered it to me. I had his money, he counted it and returned part of it and said for the boxes, so GB......I paid the Kings ransom for my seat a total of $275.00........
Tomorrow going to the Honda dealer and see if they have Honda 750 passenger floorboards about they want to move............

That looks real nice Ratman!  You should be able to find a comfortable position on that saddle!  I know the gel pads in my seat made a world of difference on the long haul.

LOL ....knowing GB he's probably going to say you could have bought them rear floor boards . I've talked to a few  people who had seats re worked and there not cheap , for sure .

  I would tell you what it cost but then GreenBarn would have to jump off the roof............but I asked a friend for a pay back on a favour I did him a while back, and then I took the results to Ken because he is in the mist of building a 69 Sporty to a military look. I'll pm you the details if you want to know but I want to protect my buddy GreenBarn from any issues........

Sweeeeett looking ratman !! Man that even looks comfortable from were I'm sitting he did an awesome  job . I like the way it supports your back , a lot not to mention gives the bike a nice appeal as well

   Ok so my seat was delivered to me the other day, today I was able to get it on the frame, and then on to the bike. Understanding the bike is on a jack and off the ground, so I did sit on it for a few mins. Can feel the difference and WOW.
So went to a guy here local who is very well known for his custom work, and for the work he does on automotive seats, boat, snow machine, and bikes. He started doing with his dad when he was like 10 years old, and this is all he does now. I first went to see him in the fall and let him see the bike and let him think over what I was after.
Picture one is the one I printed out for him to look over and think of what I was after and then go from there. During our chat I made mention of reading and seeing pictures of guys who had added gel inserts to their seats, and it made it sound like breast augmentation as did a few of the pictures. due to medical issues I was not able to go out and get pictures as I wanted to of the actual construction) He said he had pictures and would send them to me.
However he saved all the original foam and seat cover, they are in a box now in the shed. He also made a spare cover in case anyone needs one.
now he told me he left the passenger area pretty much alone, the area behind my back is made of extra firm memory foam, and I notice it moved my spine forward and into a more upright seating position till I got comfortable with it.
The driver seating area was a 1/4" foam and then 1/4" gel pad, and then 1/2" memory foam that was sculpted to make my butt imprint better. then finished with a 1/4" memory foam.
Now to take it off the jack and see how it feels and then try it this summer on a few long trips and see if the numb bum is gone........
