The goat bladder is a scary looking thing.  It reminds me of something from The Matrix.

The size is right but I had a 51 in diameter that would not fit. Recommend 53.
The 43 mm Steel exhaust clamps I bought were 43-47 and no problem.

There could be more then just one possible way to slide the pipe ends into one another. Mine quite far. Also lead stuffing would normally be applied. This all can result in requiring another diameter clamp. The clamps I have bought also had a part combining the two ends what can be folded backwards (did not realize this functionality at first), where the specified inside diameter was mm's smaller.

The collector is soon brownish and terribly stained. It was successfully treated by me with "stove polish." This product returned black shine, a little silverish, without a lot of work, I used a brush. I posted a topic about this with pictures from before and after. The stove polish did not vaporize in the heat like oil would do totally. The polish can be washed away by water and dirt, it lasted about a year before I could see I have to do it again. Stove polish is expensive and comes in small quantities, so I keep using the same brush. The pipe from the collector to the exhaust has little clear spots on top that appear and disappear with heat and I could not polish those black, only the collector.

There is a link detailing a dual stock exhaust mod by a member dakuhuso,

Another easier choice is to put on an aftermarket system. I'm sure others will chime in with suggestions.

is there any way to get rid of the goats bladder all together? its so nasty---it's pretty much the only rusted up crappy looking part...and it's visible---I wouldn't mind if it was hiddden, but even whe the bike is all detailed, it looks like SH*T..

Hey Bucko,
I have an exhaust as well.
Dan's measurements are spot on perfect.

Elmo Hayride

The pipe measurements are smaller than the clamp sizes because the pipes go inside the goat bladder/clamps.

Elmo Hayride

The pipe dimensions are:
2 @ 35mm & 1 @ 43mm.

Awesome.   Thanks Dave.  And, yes, I was referring to the goats bladder clamps.  If yours are like mine, they're quite rusty.

Just to confirm, are those pipe diameter measurements?  Thanks again.

Elmo Hayride

The part numbers are the same for mine and yours provided you mean the heavy duty clamps on the goats bladder to the pipes.

Hoping that someone can offer some advice on this....

I'd like to replace the original rusty clamps on my 01, 1500 Drifter exhaust/Goats Bladder with stainless Steel clamps.  Does anyone happen to have an original Drifter exhaust handy and could measure the size (width and circumference - or are clamps specked by diameter?) of the three clamps?

I'm pretty sure newer 1500 Classics and maybe Drifters, came with chrome clamps but I'm not sure they're the same size as the clamps on my 01.  In any case, I think I'd prefer to go Stainless Steel.

My bike's in storage and not easily assessed.  Thanks for any advice.
