Once you are designated a moderator, a couple of things change.

1) First, at the top of your screen you MAY see a MODERATE tab. I'm not sure everyone gets this... still investigating. That's where you can leave and read notes about moderating your area.

2) In the board you moderate, once you click on a post, you will see additional tabs at the bottom left which will allow you to do all your moderator duties. In boards you do NOT moderate, there will be no change.

3) The following would require action on my part:

  • anything involving members
  • renaming your board
  • adding child boards
  • changing permissions

4) Everything else should be within your authority.

5) Your duties include:

  • keeping folks civil and on message.
  • moving posts which fit better elsewhere
  • deleting inappropriate posts
  • reporting spam, scams, member problems
  • adding content for the members
  • creating discussions
  • answering questions when you can
  • sending 51% of all bribes to me.
  • establishing rules which do not contradict general forum rules.
  • developing ideas to improve your area, or any area for that matter
  • and most everything else involved with your board!

6) You are NOT expected to be an expert... you are a "facilitator".

7) You are not obligated to do the job forever. You can quit anytime you want... which will, of course, mean we will have to shut down the forum. But no pressure.

8) This is a non-union job, but you can pay dues to me if you so desire.

9) I'm just trying to get to 10.

10) Okay, at 10... <crickets>...
