I was reading about something similar not long ago.  Let me see if I can find it.........

I think this was it: http://forums.delphiforums.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=kawvulcan&msg=89414.1

I was going to suggest replacing the fluid... but you likely took care of that when you rebuilt the master cyl. Still might be air in the line, sometimes its very difficult to get rid if trapped air.

I have a '01 1500 and it's almost the same gripe. I have a hell of a time trying to get from nuetral to first. I bled my clutch and it helped but didn't solve the problem. I Drive 52 mile each way to work and it fine starting out but buy the time I get to work I'm it's starting to get difficult and scary. "I just might not be able to get into first at the next light" type thoughts.----- The other day It was one of those times when I Slammed on the shifter HARD a few times. Something gave way and now it seams to work OK. It's only been a day or two so I'm hesitent to say it's fixed? Maybe linkage, maybe not, I have no clue.  I'll be watching this post to see what gets tossed up for ideas.

Haven't seen that problem, before. Mine does take a firm shift at times to get back into first. I'll see if I can find anything on this.

Cheers.

I have a 99 1500 drifter.  16,000 miles. OK, before hand i have changed the oil and filter, i have rebuilt the clutch master cylinder. After you ride for awhile and the engine is hot. When you are trying to put it into first gear it grinds like the clutch is not in. You have to kind of snap it into gear, you can't be gentle with it. Once it is in gear it does not move with the clutch in and has never slipped. Other than that it shifts perfectly into all gears up and down. Does not grind when engine is cool and first starting a ride. Thinking maybe the clutch plates are swelling from the heat?

Any ideas would be helpfull.  THANK YOU
