1500 FRONT FORK INFO

In October I added the Progressive springs and changed the oil.
Also lubed the steering bearings and tightened them up a bit as I was getting a front wobble at 35pmh.
The front end suspension is so much better.  I think it was the original oil, bike is a 2001.
I used two jacks and followed instructions from this site.  It was very easy to do.

Hey thanks for the help I ordered a fork spring kit this morning .... So I guess now its all about come on spring .

There is a measurment for the springs and if they are longer or shorter then they need to be changed, if they are within specs just the new oil and depending on what you use will make a world of difference.

I put the progressive spring kit in the front end of my 800 last winter.  It is one of the best mods I've done.  I list it as a "must do" (along with new sprockets with different gearing).

It made a WORLD of difference in the ride.  Now exactly how much was because the old oil was bad (and it was), and how much was due to the new springs, we'll never know for sure, but I think it was worth it.

Ok I'm going to pull the front forks off and change the fork oil ( 30,000 miles ) and never changed ... My question is will it make a differance and stiffen the forks out by changing the oil or also purchase a spring kit ... Did you notice a big differance in the front end and do you feel it was money well spent .   Thanks  Rick
