Hello I am new so please bare with me. I have a 2000 drifter 800 and it had been sitting a long time but started right up. I get 40-45 miles a gallon. I use and additive called SeaFoam (OReilys Auto) in the tank. Also if you use Mobil 1 15-50 oil you will see a big difference. Hope this helps.

Why don't you make a new post on the front fender rail, so this thread doesn't deviate too much from the topic title. Maybe it will help us work out something. This sounds like a good mod that would interest folks.

Cheers.

I have a 2005 Drifter 800 and 100 miles is my limit too. Sometimes I can stretch it to 101 miles! Maybe choke manipulation would help, but that is not as easy as it was on my Vulcan 750 were it is on the handlebar.
----- Also--- would anyone have any ideas on what I could use or modify to make a front fender rail?

That's typical... most folks get between 100-120 before shifting to reserve, and there is about a gallon of fuel left at that point.

You have a 4 gallon tank... (3.96gal). Your mileage will vary based upon the tuning of the bike, the load carried, and how you ride.

Cheers.

Thanks for the reply.

Its just had a big service, so all should be working as it should. The bike has only done 5,000 miles, and I think that may be part of the problem. The fuel system could be gummed up fro being left standing.

How many miles does the bike have on it?

Maybe a tune-up is in order?  Oil change?

Hi all, got a bit of a question about fuel consumption.

Filled my bike up today, went for a run, did just about 100 miles then had to switch over to reserve because she cut out. That seems pretty poor to me, so I'm going to start looking into a few things.

Apart from obvious things like mucky air filter etc is there anything obvious thats likely with these bikes?

Any advice is appreciated!
