Further to the air vs water cooling, their touring bikes now (for 2014) also have water cooling...radiators are concealed in the lowers; the difference being, the water cooling is just around the exhaust port in the heads. Because of how much cooler the heads are they have also increased the compression ratio.

It is about time Harley Davidson "got out of the box" on air cooled engines vs water cooled. Now to "get outside the box" on shaft drive..... ;)

Harley are going to bring out a new middleweight cruizer, The Street..750cc's FI, Water cooled, and cost under $8k.

The bikes for the American and Canadian market will be made in the USA, but the rest of the world will have to use bikes made in India.

It seems to me the Japs have spent years copying Harley V-twins and now Harley are copying Honda..I have always thought the weak point on Harleys was the air cooled engine, I have done my share of long distance riding and at least my share of very slow, even walking pace riding for hours at a time, not every bike can do that, even some of the water cooled engines find it tough going..

So I sent an Email to Harley UK asking if they would let me do a real test ride, an Iron Butt run.  They replied that the bike would not be released in the USA until the second part of 2014 and would not reach the UK until 2015..

At least they didn't say no..

John.
