;) Once an old man said: the good thing is that I can still chase women; the bad thing is that when I reach them, I can't remember why I was chasing'... :o
BTW. Yes, I am a typical italian male thinkin' about women the Whole time, but PLEASE don't tell my wife!!! :-X

Being also Italian, we think alike. . . . only don't tell any of my wives.   ;)

LOL... a kickstarter does NOT make you independent of a battery... TRUST Me. And if you have ever tried to kick a harley when its cold? Man am I glad we have electric starters.

Fake kicker?   here you go... http://www.vulcandrifterriders.com/makkickstartnot.html

Reminds me of a joke...   An old rough cowboy rides into town after a long hard cattle drive, and sits down at the bar to have a drink.  This woman sits down beside him and says "You a real cowboy"?  He says "Yep, I rope and ride for a living. Just got done running 500 head up about 80 miles".   She said well I'm a Lesbian.  The old cowboy had never heard such talk so he said "what's a Lesbian?"  The girl said "I like girls.  All I think about is women,  I think about women when I have my coffee in the morning and when I eat my dinner at night.  I think about women when I get up, and when I go to sleep at night.  I especially like to think naughty about women".  All the old cowboy could say was, "Well, I've never heard of that, but OK, sister...."

Soon another fella sat down next to the old cowboy.  "So, You must be a real cowboy".   "The cowboy thought a minute and said "Well, pardner, I thought I was, but I just found out I'm a Lesbian!"

No Worries

;) typical Italian, wanting a young woman, oh at 45 you can have a young lady, now once you are old like DC then you can only have a cult of ladies following you, and an old guy like me I will take my memories.......

;) mittico68 I am thinking a young lad like you would have no issues kicking over an 800, a 1500 on a cold morning with full choke might be a bit of a bi*ch to get going........
me with a messed up right knee might not even be able to kick an 800 over, but it would be cool.....

Thanx for the compliment, but I'm no longer so Young (45 years old!) and I'm already facing, since a long ago, aches and pains of old age... :(
Be happy, you still have the left knee to use for it ;)
Anyway, IMHO it would be even cooler to have a nice lady kickin' our bikes ::)

My W650 has a kicker..I use it a lot. Total independence from the battery? No that won't work. The electronics need power, as does the electric fuel pump. Way back, in the dark ages, I had a magneto...fairbanks-morse, as I remember, on my '58 panhead, but you still needed a battery, or a battery eliminator (a VERY LARGE capacitor) to run the lights and keep the generator's regulator happy. Some small bikes had lighting coils in the magneto, so no battery at all, but the lights were pretty poor, a flashlight would have been better....

Recovering H-D owner...W-650 Cafe' No excuses...Ride it or sell it to someone who will!

It would be awesome, total independence from battery and cool starting, of course...

Sure it would be delicious, but how much effort to start the engine...
Maybe it's better a fake kickstarter along with the electric one 8)

However it would be cool to have one, just for S&G, and to watch people's face as you kick start you ride......

Not feasible at all if you want a real working kickstart. However, I remeber a phot somewhere of a 1500 Drifter retro Indian police style with a mock-up kick pedal... Fortunately for you, I just found it:

Its not really feasible with our engine/transmission design. A lot of time and treasure would be needed.

Anyone ever try adding a functional kick start to an 800 or a 1500 for that matter?
