Draconarmy, you can flip the speedo plate over, to make it even harder.

I have 1500 stickers on each aircover, and a rectangular fridge magnet "rivetted" over the VIN plate (actually the heads of the rivets have been cut off and glued to the magnet - you just lift it off come inspection/re-rego time) .

Amazing the number of young riders and then the mature, but new riders who insist on being safe and they drop hundreds of dollars on a full face helmet. Give me grief over my little pot helmet, but here they are riding about in shorts and sandals, even Wal-Mart Flip Flops. Ok let me give my head a shake here.

no doubt im going on the ride I think its gonna be funny when I pull into the lot with all the lemings and their near identical bikes and I stand out like a sore thumb. the only place that still says Kawasaki on it is the speedo plate so it should be funny to watch them try and figure it out lol

in this case it has little to do with what the organization can do other than to remind people that just because they CAN go fast doesn't mean they SHOULD. now had it been a multi veh situation then maybe the day-glo vest would help. but it seems universal that the mentality of most riders my age or younger is faster faster faster.

have a feeling this lad is going to feel the full fury of the new Commander who just got here like 3 days before the accident. Sad part is that is the third accident for a small Wing like ours. All three were Sport touring or full café type bikes, all were deemed speed unsuitable for conditions. As one of the Training NOC's on the Wing and the only one with M/C and a transport background I have been fielding a lot of questions as to safety "things" that can be done or enforced.

well here in the good old USA we tend to overreact so because a few people have gotten hurt doing stupid stuff they decided that both on and off duty we have to be decked out in rigid over the ankle boots long pants long sleeves full fingered gloves the day glow/reflective vest shatter resistant wraparound eyewear and dot approved helmet. don't get me wrong I agree with most of it but with what most people wear as pants and or long sleeves wouldn't protect them at 10 mph let alone 60 or higher. now in the armed forces if we were to get into an accident and it were found that we weren't wearing even one part of this "uniform" you could potentially be held liable for the full cost of medical care and potentially given punitive actions. now how any of these items would protect you from broken bones I don't know but yes I believe most of it is just common sense to use to lower risks, but it will do little to protect you in an actual accident

ok heard that the other day. One of the SSgt ad an accident on his bike, and he was just dressed in jeans, a T shirt, and sneakers. They are saying he will face a disciplinary hearing and might have to pay for some of his medical bills. He suffered a shoulder injury and broken arm. well unfortunately here in the us army we have to wear "brightly colored reflective vest" and the only colors they had were the orange with black trim or pink. being that I am not one of these hipsters I stuck with the orange and black
