I'm sorry but someone has to ask this..

Do you have trouble getting your leg over?

as long as he has his ladder and missus to lift his leg over the backrest he is good to go.........

I run the stock solo seat on mine,(with a back rest) and it is good to go. Definitely better with the back rest.

I went the same way as Troll.  I bought the Saddleman gel pads, pulled the cover, hogged out the foam, then reinstalled the cover.  It made a big difference for both the wife and I.

We've "seen" certain things that corroborate this contention.    ;)

Man I must have too much padding on my buttocks, because I find the stock seat comfortable for short rides of 4 hours or less, anything longer and I use my sheepskin and it is really good then. skin cost only like $20.00 and works really good for me.

I have a gel pad I bought from Saddlemen. Last year I bought just the raw gel pad and removed the stock cover, cut down into the foam and installed the pad so it didn't show with the cover back on. I road the rest of the year with that, and about 2,000 miles this year with it, and it's good for about 200-300 miles days....I got their extra large gel cushion pad for the trip to Helen and I'm pretty happy with it after 2500 miles in a week...

It fastens around the seat with a strap that has velcro on it, and is instantly removable. Not the prettiest thing to look at, but it feels good....

I recently bought a black sheepskin rug for £35.00 about €40.00 your money..I used an eyelet plier and inserted eylets all the way round then fitted the rug using soft black cord..Then I tried it out on a 1000 mile ride..

Nice cheap solution for me..

John.

Hi to everybody !

Step by step I'm improving my Drifter to what I really like. My main worry is to improve my stock seat as when I ride with my wife, after just 30min, our both butts are hurting us. I hope that an improvement of the seat will allow us to make less stops in our medium distance trips.

Today I own two seats:

One is the stock solo seat, where I feel comfortable enough:

No problem with this.

The other is the stock 2up seat:

I've tried several times to buy a 2up seat from ebay, although postage costs push prices to heaven, as most of them are in the US or Canada, and the jump over the Atlantic is quite expensive.

Today I'm a bit dissapointed. I recieved yesterday the Mustang Cover and installed it on my Bike:

I thought it would be more than just a leather cover with fringes, and that I would feel a better sensation seating on it, as my initial problem was butt-hurting after just 30min, and not only improving the aspect.

Aspect is great...nothing against it, but will we feel better using just the cover?...I'm not sure !

Perhaps, now it's time to put anything between the original seat and the cover to impove riding quality. Any of you have experienced with that?

Thanks again !
