Adjusting the rear shock (sorry)?

 yes you are correct, and like it said do not try to go from 7 to one clockwise or you can really mess up the shock. New shock runs around $450.00 CDN.

Isn't it the higher the number the stiffer the suspension. Highestbeing 7?

  Nope only ned to remove the outside cover, then look inside and towards the rear of the bike and you will see it, albeit you might need a flashlight if it is dark.  The bolt is not right there jump in your face, you have to look for it. A 12mm socket on a power bar and ratchet works really well. I am a small guy only 5'11"and 240 lbs......mine is set on 6 all the time, I also ride solo 98% of the time so it is really comfortable there.

I've read some posts as well as the instructions found here on how to adjust the rear shock: http://www.vulcandrifterriders.com/shockadjust.html

But I guess I must be thick or something, because I cant find the adjustment bolt. When I remove the left (plastic) panel, all I see is a bunch of electrics. Do I need to remove the inside plastic casing as well to reach the bolt?
