Yea Troll, that is exactly what I'm looking for. I love that vintage look.. Any idea where I can get those?

www.vulcandrifterriders.com/cae.html   I found this link on another page. Their contact email was kicked back. They also have a spring saddle for the 800 that is cool... Any ideas????

Well, here's the problem, quoting from Deb's own description of her bike: She was custom built by Cycle Art Engineering out of St.Louis, MO who decided it was time to let her go so that they could move on to their next project. Deb

Shrink drifter , not to sure were to find that style saddlebag holder but , I do remember seeing them for sale some where ? As far as that web page I have to believe it's non operational anymore . That spring saddle setup that your interested in "was" made by Flat top , and he no longer is producing them . I researched this last year being I too was looking and recieved and met some great people in doing so , with this information . If your looking for a spring saddle there's two places you can look .
1) Singh Saddleries ( witch I currently have ) Great craftmanship quality seat , comes with all the hardware I personaly thought was a reasonable price !

2) Heather's Leather's  - beautiful looking work ! I found them to be expensive IMOP . Let's just say I could have bought 3 seats versus 1 .

There's also a Harley seat I see being used now ,more over seas but , looks fabulous ! Hope this helps ya , sorry if I got off the saddle clips just a wee bit ..... LOL

Well I do not have bags on my 800, but putting them on the fender is not a good idea as the fender moves up and down so anything in the bags will get bounced around  a quiet a bit. Most everyone has brackets off the seat or frame to hold the bags up off the seat.

I've got an 800 with a solo seat. I've seen (i think) vintage looking saddlebags that clip at the top to the rear fender. (i recently saw some on an old HD also). Anyone know where to get these, or have ever tried them on a Drifter?  Any thoughts about this vs. regular saddle bags?

I'm not sure that what you are describing would be a good idea, I have the 1500 which has a plastic fender, my bags are held by a steel standoff L shaped carrier which is bolted to the seat bracket so no weight is on the fender, I stop the bags from moving by holding them with leather laces to the carrier and by wrapping a leather belt around them..I have found that anything resting against the fender will quickly mark the paint so I have fitted my gps cigarette lighter plug inside a prophylactic which keeps it dry in all weather and prevents damage to the paint..It is out of sight under the seat..
