Clutches on vulcans tend to wear quickly. Older models had weak clutch springs so a minor upgrade was/is needed. But - overhaul of a clutch on a Vulcan is REALLY easy and not much of a problem.

Like any other bike, how long it will run without any major work depends upon preventative maintenance.

A Goldwing will do a bazillion miles of level headed, regular maintinanced cruising before it needs to have a major overhaul.  Most other cruisers fall somewhere near that mark or maybe a bit short near as I can tell.  Since the Drifter is based on the Vulcan, it would seem that it should be able to run the distance pretty well.

So, the real question is, how many miles should I expect to get before major work needs done?

I know, maintinance and driving style have a lot to do with it, but is it common to get a good 80,000 to 100,000 miles before major overhaul time?  More?  Less?  And again, on average, clutch liffe?

(Is it that obvious that my last bike was in the mid 70's?)
