A nice quiet helmet

I have a couple of pair of the Halcyon RAF goggles that I use all the time as well. Yes, my glasses fit fine under them.

I got a pair of halcyon RAF goggles and simply love them also. There is foam between the lens but the thick pading leave a free space on the bridge of your nose, so you can wear glasses underneath. The branch on the side are more of a problem, since they make an opening for air to get in. Since the strap is made to wear over an helmet they don't put too much pressure on the glass. They are not cheap at 80$ but really well made, available with laminated poly or laminated glass, smoked or clear, the lens are pretty easy to change on the go as well. Be carefull with cheap reproduction. Look at a video of cheap poly under impact from a tiny gravel and you will understand why!

Chief:  you can wear your glasses under those RAF goggles?  They look like they have foam in between the lenses, the would prohibit glasses underneath.

Sorta off subject... over the years, my eyesight requires the use of glasses... works well EXCEPT when it rains. I've tried face shields... hate them... I finally got a "pair" of WWII RAF pilot goggles... the split glass configuration makes the rain run right off. My glasses stay dry so I can actually see no matter how hard it pours.

my hjc cl-33 3/4 helmet with built in sun visor....fairly quite...my choice for the happy middle of the road...not to pricey and i can still hear every thing.

Wind noise will rob you of your hearing, a little at a time.   I always wonder about those who ride without a windshield.  I tried, but I can't seem to ride anything that does not have a windshield.  The wind noise and buffeting is just too much to bear without a shield.  I get enough bee stings with a damn windshield as it is.

I have a couple of half lids, a 3/4, a full face and and now a HJC Modular.  The HJC has a built in sun glass option.  I installed communications gear in it, so it is the helmet of choice when I am touring.

Seattle brings lots of different weather, rainy and cold for 7 or 8 months of the year, so the Modular is the choice for that season, but in the summer, I really enjoy the half lid for riding around town.... but if I have some serious miles to cover, I enjoy the quietness of the 3/4 as it has communications gear as well.

iwear ear phones on both bikes. the gw has an intercom, as 2well as music, gps, etc. i have no problem hearing traffic , bike etc.  full face lids are too noisy and limit my vision. My wife wears a 3/4.. Over the years we have tried about every configuration around. I like a half lid.

 tried riding with ear buds in and could not .........heard the music but not the bike......so I have a 3/4 with a set of headphones in the ear area and it works really well, can hear the bike and the music is just loud enough to keep me from being bored.

I had an audiologist start me with ear plugs after a hearing test...The first time I went for a ride with them in, I found myself going WAY over the speed limit...no sense of speed without the sound. A quiet helmet is quite another thing. I can hear my stereo just fine with the helmet on, no so well without it. The wind noise is really the culprit.

Because I'm trying to keep the hearing I have left after surviving the heavy metal 80's and the Army I normally use ear plugs when doing riding on long rides (not around town obviously).  I am the only one?

I used a full-face many moons ago, in a past life  , and all I recall is that I found the riding experience fairly isolating.

I have a Nolan modular that is pretty nice.  Being a modular it does have some wind noise, but it's pretty quiet, so I'd bet that a Nolan full face would be really quiet.

For all the reasons you state, it's probably going to have to be a Shoei. Modulars are getting better, but the hinge mechanism and all the busy parts for the chin bar will generate wind noise. I like my Symax 1 a lot, my symax II, not so much. The one piece design of a real full face helmet is superior to the added on chin bar of a modular.

   my little pot for most riding, but on long trips I do have a 3/4 helmet that I carry along as an extra. Never could get comfortable in a full face, did wear a chin guard when riding drit bikes, but a full face just makes me feel to enclosed....but each to their own correct......

To each their own, but I also like to be able to hear the engine, for shifting cues, as well as what other traffic is doing.

I am looking to purchase a good helmet which blocks out noise, has a good clear view, is comfortable , lightweight and all this without compromising safety! I don't mind dropping some serious cash . I'm tired of purchasing these cheap helmets that lack all of the above

I would like exactly the opposite...a helmet that lets in all the noise so that I can listen to the engine..I ride long distances at pretty near the top speed of the bike and I would like that little extra warning if something is straining..

Not sure exactly what style you're looking for as greenbarn said, Recently purchased two of these (One for my wife and one for myself so we could attach our Scala units) You buy the shell and they fit the liner to your size... The liners are removable and washable ours came with a 3/4 detachable face shield or the visor, They also have true ventilation openings front and rear, We're very pleased with them.

I'm also in the helmet market, so I don't have a suggestion for you, made2care. 

However, you might want to indicate what type of helmet you're looking for - full face, open, or half helmet.  It will make a difference on recommendations...
