When I bought my '01, the P.O. had it set up exactly that way...The aluminum struts are not strong enough to keep it stable. If the struts were made of steel, then maybe.

I have seen pics of someone's bike (here recently) with a rack behind the solo seat and looked like they were using it for a 2 up also. This would be great if it would suppport the weight of the passenger. When not 2 up you could remove the pad and use it as a luggage rack. Anyone seen this before or tried it or are currently using? looked like they may have been using the saddlebag brackets for the support.
