I seen something like this that was started for fun and have a good time get out of hand and some real harm come to people and quiting a forum over the way things happened over the picking of winners.

Yup.  Seen this happen over, and over, and over again.

Lmao.....Chief,like how you caught yourself with that comment, because then you say it has to be 11.5/8.5".Man if that was the case I would not be in the tree industry that's for sure.Well with all this crazy weather I have time to figure this out.If not I'll just have to use another life line and call a friend...lol

What PC said...

remember two different resolutions for two different applications.

If the calendar resolution is a challenge, give me the max dpi your equipment will produce. I will adjust it at this end. Size - if your equipment does INCHES instead of pixels... <don't even think about that comment>... it needs to be 11.5 x 8.5 inches.

So basically the pixels/inches is the size, the DPI is the resolution/clarity etc. The higher the DPI the better your bike will look on the calendar. On the computer screen it doesn't matter a whole bunch.

I'm giving you this info to make it easy on me. Just give me the resolution I asked for for the computer screen, and the max you can manage for the calendar. Obviously if you are a pro and have equipment that will 10,000 dpi... you aren't going to email me a file that size!!!! Stick close to the numbers I provided.

Give me what you can and I will tell you if I can't use it.

DPI = Dots Per Inch - It has an effect on the sharpness and clarity of the pic.  More dots, more clarity, which is often expressed as the "resolution" of the picture.  ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dots_per_inch )

The numbers (2816 x 2112) is the number of pixels of the pic ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pixel )....think of it as the width and height of the picture.

2)High res/Lo res pics  :o and what ever else Chief was saying.Dam,I'm trying to cut and paste with issues can you imagine how long this technology is going to take me.I'll shoot for the 2015 calendar that should give Aidan plenty of time to help out his good ol' dad.

Ok, I'll try this again.

1) It will NOT be a contest.
2) If you submit your bike for a feature it WILL be featured. I will work out the timing.

3) To be featured you will need to provide:
a) at least 4 pictures. Two standard res and two hi res. You can submit more than 4; we will select the best.
b) mods
c) accessories - brands etc
d) bike history
e) other interesting details
f) Your NAME, Nickname, City, State, Country, VDR#, Year model of bike.
g) Provide names or relationship of any people in the pic. If its you, say so.

4) EVERY bike submitted with the proper information will be included in a 2014 calendar

5) I will ultimately group pictures by content for the calendars... some categories may be:
- bikes alone
- Bike with rider (standing or sitting on bike)
- Bike in interesting locale
- Highly modified bikes
- Bike with kids
- Bike with significant other
- Female drifter riders
- Show pictures  (bike show pics)
- Action pictures  (actually riding the bike)
- bikes with tattooed riders. (will also appear in the Ink and Thunder board)
- Risque - bikes with some skin. No hard core stuff. Attractive or humorous.
- Art, drawings, photoshopped

6) Include your VDR#. If you don't have a VDR number please register.

Information will be submitted via EMAIL... Due to the size of the pics you may have to send more than one email.

Submit pictures and write up to:   chief@VulcanDrifterRiders.com  SUBJECT: Featured Drifter

Standard res pics for use on site : 72dpi, 1024x768 (these are minimum sizes).
Hi-Res for Calendar : 200DPI, 2300x1880px (Again minimum sizes). Save in PNG format.

I will set up the Featured Drifter board and post this there. Additionally, I will establish an archive in the gallery for all past featured bikes.

I had a FEATURED DRIFTER of the Month board for a while but it never generated much interest and I didn't get any nominations/submissions from the membership, so I killed it. I'm not inclined to restart it without a lot of positive input from the crew. Also, the setup would need some work... nominations vs the actual posting... I don't want them in the same place and I don't necessarily want public critique of folks bikes. In a bike show, the judges don't usually allow the participants to listen to their deliberations... same would apply here. Let's hear some feedback.

You don't have to make a debate of it just a poll with the contestants listed..Contestants could register a photo and voters could poll on the one they like best..no need for comments on your choice just a straight vote...At the end of the year maybe a calendar.

John.

I voted no simpy because I don't want to commit to something I may or may not participate in. That being said, it would be cool to see what Drifters would be featured.

Perhaps a couple people could just be a panel, and they ask someone for pictures and then show case the bike for the month. This way if people do not want to take part they can turn it down, no hard felings if you are not nominated, or if you don't get votes. only the panel and the person will know if they have been picked. That is just my take.

PC... First of all, Thank You for suggesting "Evelyn" It's great just to get the recognition from you. All one has to do is look at this site and you'll see there are many fine examples how someone has personalized their Drifter, That in itself makes it extremely difficult to pick just one, Personally I like them all and don't think I'm alone in feeling that way about them.
I think it's a great idea showcasing different Drifters each month. With regards to making it work... I'm pretty sure the collective minds we have here can iron out any issues that may present themselves... I've yet to see any issue presented to the forum that doesn't end with a positive solution.

We have several calendars with member Drifters ... visit... CALENDARS on the main page ... over on the right... or http://www.vulcandrifterriders.com/vdrcalendar.html. These are ALWAYS the current year!!   They don't change over till the end of the year...

I plan to do another one for 2014. IT takes time to get everything ready to produce a calendar.
I've set up a poll.  If there is enough interest we will do the background work and get something moving.

I think this would be pretty cool. After all ,It's all about having fun sometimes.I'm a firm believer in the old saying,"work hard to play hard."There's a lot of fellow Drifters here that have did a number of upgrades, mods etc. and either asked opinions or even for help accomplishing these goals,I'm for one a prime example of this, that's for sure!I'm positive,we can make this fun.I'll agree with Chief, the nominations should be seperate from the posts.Wouldn't want to hurt anyone's feelings or start any unnecessary drama.I think everyone will join in on this to make this fun. After all that's why so many of of enjoy this forum.Who knows maybe we could even start a calendar with the 12 winning rides throughout the year. You can count me as a go on this, obviously.

I knew you used to have one.  I didn't know it didn't work out well though.

It was just a thought........

OK, I'm proposing a Drifter of the Month contest.  This is to be a friendly thing.  It doesn't need to be someone you know or anything.  You can find a pic on the web and suggest it as a contender, or it can be someone from the forum.

I'm thinking since it's about the middle of the month, this would be a good time to allow people to suggest their favorites for the Drifter Of The Month Title for next month.  We could start the voting at the beginning of next month with a poll I can start reflecting all the suggested contenders and about halfway through next month we'll end it, declare a winner, and start new suggestions.  If you've won in the last year you cannot qualify for the next 12 months to contend again.  At the turn of the year we can have a Drifter of the year drawn from the previous years winners only.

***The photo Gallery will be your friend in this!  http://vulcandrifterriders.com/photogallery/  ***

Waddya think?

For my suggestion.....Bake has a really sweet ride!
