Sounds like you need to block out a couple of weeks and rent a bike in America and just get lost for a while.

One of the problems I have is that I don't enjoy riding the same roads..I have been retired for 19 years now and so I don't need to ride to work every day, I remember years ago riding the same road to work and meeting someone on a much faster bike than me who always left me behind, I would test myself against his much faster bike day after day but no matter what I did I just couldn't beat his bike..I rather enjoyed that daily challange..Since retiring I have had several different bikes, some fast, some not so fast and some that have been a real challenge to ride, but I live in a town with one road in and one road out, if I turn one way I have twenty miles of the same road before I can go anywhere else, and turning the other way I have two choices a mile or so away..I ride these roads so much that I don't have many places to go for something different..I am too old to go abroad now but sometimes I find myself yearning for a road that I have never travelled and some nice dry weather to ride it in..Oh and a safe place to park the bike at night would be nice..

Ride safe out there.

John.
