I really haven't given mounting much thought. With my setup it would be hard to mount it up front like the vintage bikes. I have seen them mounted where the left side air box was on modified 1500's. I have kept my air box intact, so that's not an option either.

This made me laugh, having the visual of putting your head 4 inches from the horn when you blow it.  Like that's realistic....  Course it probably IS pretty loud at that range...

Its a replica of a 38-48~ harley horn.

Here it is mounted on a springer front end... and an Indian version.

I like this, mounted on the front. Nice classic look.
But wondering how it will look on my drifter. Is there enough free space, taking in account the travel of the front fender?

It has an angle bracket and the wiring.

I have two of the Nautilus horns on my truck... they work fine and no one can see them. They do exaggerate the dB level in their advertising... they are not nearly as loud as they claim. They are about the same noise level as my trumpet horns on my Drifter. Still plenty loud. I have the noise level measuring gear from my OSH occupation... the distance from the horn matters in these measurements. They do their's at about 4 inches.... way too close.

But with two of them combined with my truck's stock horns it sounds like a train when I hold down the horn. A light tap and only the truck's OEM horns work... nice option in my mind. I have had them for about 2 years and they work fine... no problem with the weather.

Personally, I don't think they look good on my Drifter... nothing vintage looking about them. They are loud enough and folks have them mounted so they aren't noticeable unless you are looking. I ALWAYS see them... but I look pretty close at any Drifter I see!

The Indian horns or covers are around if you are interested in spending $200-$400 or so on it. Just the cover - reproduction - runs $150-$200 from what I've seen.

They're sharp, but not that sharp (to me).

Been looking at this one Stebiel Nautalis only it has a few bad reveiws so going to continue to look about and see what is around out there.

The one I have is the harley replica, complete horn. I think it will go for around $50... haven't really looked at pricing for it. I just remembered we had it.

So Is the first one the one you have for sale, or are you also going to also have the later-mentioned Indian style??   Do you have a price yet?  I'd be interested to know how loud they are, but I like those and might be interested.  I need to look closer at mine to see how much it would really be seen.   I have an aftermarket chrome version, but that Indian horn is S H A R P

Speaking of horns... I have a nice looking Indian/Harley retro disk style chrome horn I need to put online for sale... Haven't tried it out, don't know how loud it is.

Hello All.........I've mounted a Stebiel Nautalis air horn in the stock position and you don't even know its there till you hit the horn button...very loud...I put them on all my bikes....and NO it doesn't hit the fender....KEN.!

The retro looking horns on mine (they are air horns) are just as loud as the Stebels and look a LOT better. I really like them. And, they come in chrome or black!

I have two of those Stebels on my truck, along with the oem horns. A little tap and only the oem's come on... hold it down... it does sound like a truck!

I know guys who have used these compact bike air horns.  They ain't pretty but they are louder than hell.  139db is louder than standing next to a jet engine at start up.

  ok let me answer the questions in order....

Chief: the airhorns look really good, but I am afraid if I mount them on my 800, the frist time I use them I might eat the windsheild because the bike comes to a screeching halt from the flow of air out of them......

PC and Chief: I know were the horn is on my Jimmy and trust me it gets wet, but this is an aftermarket horn so I am not sure what it can withstand. Also for $40.00 I want to hear the sound before I do all the work and effort to mount it, I'll have something good soon....

John: as for how a goosedmonkey sounds, if 45 said he knows what it sounds like then please do not ask how he knows this fact, it might just ruin your day, remember he lives in that state. Also the state of his mind is not like us normal people.....very important to remember that fact.......
