Chrome seat rail

Yep there is a lot of room for customization and modification of the "look" of a Drifter. The variety of looks possible is pretty amazing IMHO.

Thanks Chief, I looked at a few pic,and thought mine looked pretty close to the ones I was looking at,but I guess it comes down to how anyone wants it to look on their MC(Drifter). Our weather here in the NW should start improving soon, Perhaps I'll fool with it and figure out an install for mine.  Thanks again.

Actually, the way it sits is "traditional". Have a look at some vintage hd's and Indians. I suspect some adjustment is possible as well.

I run the stock seat and thought about this rail but in the pics it looks like it sits to high up and to far forward. I thought a rail should be a little behind the seam in the top back of the seat.

Yes, that's what I've been hoping would take place,not so far. I have it listed as such. Oh well, I will leave it there for now,till I have a chance to look things over in regard to reworking it,and mod.to make it work.  Thanks to everyone.    Goombah

Knowing it will fit the oem saddle will help you sell it. A lot of folks still use the oem seat.

I know it will fit with the oem seat,but I am way more fond of the Corbin then I am the chrome.The oem seat is about the ugliest thing on what is an ugly bike to begin with. I should have saved my oem seat and made a great package deal,of asking price for the rail with an ugly seat for free. Now I feel like a stroll around my garage with rail in tow.

Yeah that's the problem. The oem rail also will not fit with a true corbin seat either. Corbin doesn't really have models... just solo/double for 800 and 1500 - which can be very custom.

So, likely the rail will fit fine on one with an oem solo saddle. (Remember there was the oem and Kaw sold a corbin covered seat on a kaw pan.) Might be worth checking out.

Chief, I have a solo Corban seat,not sure the mod.#,pretty fancy seat. Pix in the Gallery.Yes, fits without the seat,but a seat is a bit more important to me then a piece of chrome.Every time I stand up and ride,I have to stop to pee.Got to leave the seat on,but good idea.

Cochise, I own an 800 as well,not a 1500,and I'm sure I will figure something out,being that it isn't going to sell. As for now,as I said in earlier reply to the Chief, I kind of like just dragging it around behind me in my garage,and snagging myself up on stuff.Just about have the chrome scraped off ths beauty now.Once the chrome is pretty well gone, I can do what ever with it,and won't feel so bad having bought it to begin with.Once it is all screwed up,I will think,"I don't want that junk on my bike anyway"

I made my own for my 800 solo, out of 3/8 rod , but there's no 1500's around here that I know of so I'm not sure how exactly to throw out a suggestion. But the underside of of the seat can hide a lot of experimenting, go for it.

I've forgotten... which seat do you have?  Does it fit on the bike without the seat? I'm thinking perhaps it will fit with other seats.

Thought about customizing the thing some so I can use it. I might get inspired to try some rework on it when it warmes up a bit. I can probably make it work. That would be good,cuz it really is a good looking piece,It would look very good with where my Drifter is at this point.  I have pix. of my bike in the gallery if you are interested. Very good looking Drifter if I don't say so myself. Thanks for the thoughts.

Hey Goombah, sorry you got stuck with the seat rail. If I remember , it didn't fit you seat. It may not be a direct fit but can you " make " it work? If it's even close , fire up the torch , bend the brackets to fit, or make a bracket , paint the part black if it discolours ect. But maybe you can still come out ahead instead of being p**ssed each time you see it sitting there. Just a thought.

You're probably right Chief,that's why you're the chief and we're the indians.  I have kind of realized it will NEVER sell, so,for the winter mo. just to kind of slow myself down a bit when puttsing around out in my 3 place garage, I have tied a short rope to the rail,then tie it to a belt loop and just drag the thing around behind me. Of course it is always snagging me with some other important piece of crap in the garage.Here is the beauty in it. Getting all tangled up with the thing is what slows me to where I can enjoy my garage,and enjoy my seat rail. I have also become quite fond of the clanging noises It announces as it anchors me to something heavy,or the crashing noise closely resembling a horrfic wreck as I hook into something I can reel in, like the catch of the day. I am thinking maybe you have hit this thing head on,and I should raise the price just a wee bit. Thanks, Goombah.

Jeeez! does anyone read the classifieds?  I can't hardly believe I have NEVER had a bite on the seat rail.Come on you bunch of cheapskates,buy your Drifter something nice for the New Year!
