My wife and i have talked it over, no matter what, for the move to work, she would have to have a job there also, we uploaded her resume this morning, and has had 2 calls so far wanting her to interview as a property manager.  Which would work as it would give us a place to live right from the start. with no deposits, or down payments.

It may not happen, as the 2 incidences have to mesh, her getting a job as a apartment manager, and if i fit the papers budget.

We really want to live in a somewhat larger area, here the population is under 2000, and if you want to eat at a restaurant (other than burgerking, or micky D's, or some mom & pop catfish & chicken buffet) you have to drive 30 miles 1 way just to have say ryans, or texas road house, or even farther for a ruby tuesdays, or a tgifridays.

I can say this, and suggest this place to anyone that is in riding distance of north east Mississippi.

I have had steak from california to florida, oregon to new jersey, new mexico, texas, colorado, kansas city , louisiana. you name it.

BUT NONE compare to the steaks you get in the town of Corinth, MS. at a place called Russells Steak house.

From visit to visit, they are consistently cooked and seasoned to perfection. Worth the ride.(65 miles from me)

just a few miles farther east on 72 is the second place to go, while the food is not bad, the atmosphere more than makes it worth the trip.
the rattle snake saloon.

Check them out!.

I had an office in Louisville... I live south of Nashville. I've spent a lot of time there and between. To be honest, I don't like the LV area much. BUT, it is a pretty cosmopolitan area if you like that sort of thing. It is a mix of North and South... so you don't lose that southern flavor completely. Lots of folks really like the area. E-town is south of there and I can't much about that area.

The interstates through NV, N/S and E/W have become more and more crowded over the years. Getting through NV is no where near as bad as getting through Atlanta during rush hours... Louisville is also pretty bad.
Make sure you take the quality of life, property and tax differences into consideration. Those can wipe out any salary benefits really quickly. Good luck to you.

Glad to hear you were able to hit the road again. If you would of missed the rush hour, it would of been a nicer trip home. But sometimes you just gotta fly.  I'm only about 3 hrs from E-town. Nice area, there and Louisville.

I envy your ride!! Glad to hear it was uneventful as far as "clowns in cars" and some in trucks, for that matter.

Good luck on the job!!

Well, while at work yesterday, i received a call from one of our "Affiliate" offices in Elizabethtown Ky. The News Enterprise.

Our papers are Owned by the same company.
They are looking for a graphic artist, but the IT Manager wanted to talk to me about a IT job instead.
Instead of a phone interview, I figured what the heck, I can take off wednesday, and it is only 6.5 hours ISH.
and i wanted to see their operation anyway.

Got off work, threw my dress clothes in a pack, put on my carharts (jacket & pants), my snow boots, balaclava, full face helmet, and heated gloves and off i went.
Left North Mississippi at about 5pm Tuesday, got to Etown about 1am ish my time(they are on eastern time, we are central).

Mostly interstate, 70mph (by the Etrex gps mounted on the handlebar clamp, i love the etrex series, over 20 hours of battery life on 2 AA batteries),

Mileage was 45.6mpg average.
My speedo is 3 mph fast at 70, but dead on at 55-60.

Crashed in a cheap motel, after a good nap, got cleaned up and went to the interview.

Left there about 2pm central time, pretty ride in the daytime, but hit Nashville about quitting time.
Luckily most of the traffic was headed north out of town.

Lots of commercial traffic, I don't normally ride interstates, I prefer the secondary roads, this just reminded me why, (i have the smallest canoe on the lake so to speak) , but it got better as the traffic tended to space themselves out more after dark.

Got home at 9pm tonight, still wired from the ride...

747 miles round trip 28 hours (including the nap), it won't get me the iron butt award, but i can tell you, right now it feels like 1000 miles...

And back to the "Salt Mine" so to speak tomorrow...

Next time, i think i will take the car and the wife...

Note on the interview, if they can afford me, I maybe moving to Etown/Louisville Ky. area..
as she said, I already make more than the person that left, but I have more qualifications to bring to the table...

Later gents..
