Seafoam suggest trickling the liquid into a vacuum line that feeds both cylinders.

Instead of that, I bought the aerosol can of seafom and sprayed it directly into the intake while the engine was running, it starts to smoke profusely, then shut the engine down, leave it turned off for a few minutes (per the cans directions) then restart the engine (again it will smoke profusely) then go for a ride. it is supposed to clean out the built up carbon in the upper part of the engine.

I do know it made a vast difference in the way my bike runs, it was just a little worrisome watching my baby smoke like that..

"Fog the engine" please explain... :-)

SeaFoam has a very strong detergent in it. Leaving it in the oil may not be the best idea, since it's put in to clean up a mess, and then it should be drained out, with all the trash it's dissolved from the engine. I use it the same way we used to use butyl cellosolve. You either use it to remove combustion chamber deposits, force a 5% solution through the injectors to clean them, or use it to clean up a cranlcase...apparently causes cancer in California rats if they drink it.....maybe that's another use!

From what I have read that Troll has said, he ran it in the oil for 200 mi before an oil change. And I believe 1.5 oz per qt of oil. I hav'nt done it yet myself. But next oil change its on the menu.

This thread is started so as not to hijack vagabondjay's lifter noise thread with other alternatives...

I have used seafom in my gas, but not the crank case as of yet.

From what i gather from some of your responses, you actually put it in the crankcase and leave it in..

is that correct?
others have suggested just running it for a short time before changing the oil.

I have also fogged the engine with the aerosol sea foam,  it made a big of difference.
