Not to high jack the thread but is there any way to remove the goats bladder on a stock exhaust setup?

I'm entertaining putting a stock kit back on my bike because of the looks but i like the bike to be load and rumble and im not sure it can do that

I cost me $26 to ship via ups from Texas....I got mine Monday afternoon. It's not as perfect as I would have hoped, and the previous owner removed the baffle plates from the actual muffler...it really sound great! It's louder than my TourGlide, but no where near as loud as my SuperGLide...I'm working on the sound file to post it...let just say, it's like the difference between June Carter and Johnny Cash...Daddy sang bass! All the raspy crack that I had with the peace pipe is gone...sounds like riding in a tunnel!

I have a pristine one sitting in my garage; it only has 55 mile on it...too expensive to ship, so I craigslist it once in a while.

Remember, I said the recording was done with the mp3 player inside my jacket, and I reduced the sound by 3db..that's a lot of sound reduction. I have several sound files that are way too loud and get distorted. The exhaust is about 2x louder than it was before I modded the intake...more air=more sound. The "crack" in the exhaust note was never there until the mod. It certainly isn't as loud as a 1200 sporty with 24" drag pipes, but it's more sound than I want. I live in a residential area, and there is enough noise pollution already...I was next to a guy who was texting while he was trying to drive, and I whacked the throttle open, he dropped his phone! If the stock system is too quiet ( I want something between a GoldWing and a drag bike), the stock configuration gives me many more choices than the 1 piece Cobra pipe...We'll see, I get the system on Monday...And thanks for the compliments on the bike... I kinda like it and I'm planning on keeping it as long as I can....My '78 E-Glide and I were together for 32 years...the FLT was a new comer...only 16...

Same exhaust that I have on my 99 and it came with the bike from Kawasaki. It was quickly changed and only around 500 units were sold when Kawasaki changed it to their own exhaust. I purchased my bike from the original owner with all the documentation which shows it came with the Cobra exhaust. I love the sound of mine and yours sounds similar. I really can't tell from your video that it is too loud.

My new (to me) stock exhaust system, according to UPS, should arrive on Monday by 6 o'clock...I did up a little slide show with a sound file that I recorded yesterday with an MP3 player.  I was quite surprised how loud this exhaust really is. The first time I recorded the sound, I had it in the trunk, and all I got was distortion, so I tried again, with the recorder inside my jacket...much better result. I processed the audio with Audacity, and decreased the volume by 3 db. I used Windows Live Movie maker for the basic setup and then Pazera Video Converter to make it an mpg file.

I have the stock system sitting under my deck... shipping it costs more than its worth so it continues to sit... I think that likely has happened to a lot of folks.

I can't understand, since it seems that every 1500 out there has an aftermarket exhaust, why it's so difficult to find a stock one. Every one of the Drifters had one from the factory, so there must be some out there...they couldn't have all evaporated.  After 3 years of hunting, I found a complete system with less than 1,000 miles on it. It's in Texas, and I bought it for $150...I have a Cobra pipe, which I modified with rubber mountings and an extra heat shield, but now, after 32,000 miles, it's getting quite loud. I wanted a stocker from the beginning. When I bought the bike it had the V&H pipes with no baffles, and I was embarrassed to ride it. The Cobra pipe was the only thing I could find, and it was pretty quiet at first. I modified the intake system to let in MUCH more air, and now the Cobra pipe is quite loud, and has a "crack" sound about 4,000 rpm and up. It sounds pretty good in the short run, but the noise gets wearing after a whole day's riding. When I get the system installed, I'll post some pics and maybe a sound file of both systems...kinda a before and after....
