Front Sprocket Changeout

I know Scootworks has a kit for this, but it requires both sprockets be changed.  I've read that changing the front sprocket to 19 tooth accomplishes the same ratio.

I'd love to do the belt drive conversion, but I've been unemployed for the last 8 months and cash is short right now.

Hey Eagle,

I was just looking into this from Scootworks last week front and rear sprockets. Also I recently disassembled the rear end, chain housing for clean and lube, its all fairly easy in terms of access. (Jack and tools required)

Before you do that though, also consider the opportunity of swapping over to belt drive. Scootworks has a kit for that too. Somewhere around $599. I didn't get too specific when I was looking into it, but if you need help they're pretty sharp.

If I can help, shoot me an Email.

If you want to reduce the final speed, you have to do a bigger gearwheel in front , so min. 20 teeth. Not more !
The start speed increases with it.

Doesn't Scootworks make a kit for this?

I'm hoping some of you knowledgable folks can help me out here.  I haven't turned a wrench in about 30 years.  I searched but found nothing on the subject.  I've been considering replacing the front sprocket on my 800 with an 18 tooth to reduce engine rpm at cruising speed. My questions are:

1.  Has anyone here done this?

2.  How difficult is the procedure?

3.  What can I expect as far as effect on low end?

Thanks in advance for your input.
