Picture is of the stock two up seat frame on the bike. making your own frame is easy be sure you have enough clearance between the fender and frame. Also seat frame I made and tour pack bracket. If you have any question let me know

Just plug away at both sites and you'll eventually find what you need.  I did see this killer deal on an 800 just north of me in NH in case anybody in interested:'

Congratulations on your new 1500.  Its fuel injection will adjust itself for any or no baffle situation.  I've run Vance and Hines Longshots which have no baffles and there was no apparent change except in my neighbor's reaction to the din.
The standard seat sits on a cantilevered pipe assembly that extends to the rear over the fender.  You need to find or buy this assy. from someone who's gone to a single seat.  You might even find a trade, if you don't want the single seat.  The original setup had a large grab rail behind and above the rear seat's back portion.
There is a lot of info re seats in this forum; use the Search box above on the right with Seat as the search term and you'll learn a great deal.  Craigs list has them.

i recently traded my boat for a 2003 drifter 1500. i have been around bikes for a long tome, but there are a few things i am not too sure about. currently my bike has a solo seat, and i have been looking for a nice used 2 up seat. ( don't have $500 to buy new) my other option is to fab a bracket and mount a universal passenger pad for my wife. the prob is i just dont understand how the 2 up is supported over the fender...

so if anyone could help me in understanding this it would be very appreciated! pics would also be wonderful, or if anyone has an old seat even if it needs re covered, please let me know.

i am also looking into exhaust, i have seen alot of people removing the baffels but i was told by a couple of people that that will make the bike run like crap! what is the truth behind that????

thank you for any help you may be able to offer
