Drifter won'tstart

Well, went out this am and tried the bike it fired right up like it is supposed to. All I can think of is, the fuel tank was virtually empty; maybe got a piece of crud down into the injectors, caused it to over fuel. if anybody has any thoughts/tips on this, please post; any new info is always appreciated.

It showed no fault codes, but was flooding quite bad; I pulled the plugs, let it sit for an hour and a half, put the plugs in, and it started. Ran rough, pushed fuel out of the box on the back of the head (smog box) finally cleared out and ran fine. It stalled a couple of times at low speed (just off idle) but ran fine with the "choke) pulled out.  I have put V&H Longshots on; AFTER getting it running I changed the fuel mapping for the Longshots,(Dynatech PCIIIUSB) and re-calibrated the throttle position; it was out by 2% at "throttle closed" and 3% at "throttle open".
Will try it again today; will post updates later.

... if the engine turns over strongly but it won't start, then I'd ensure all the switches are in the correct position, make sure its got GOOD fuel supply (clean fuel, good fuel pump, clean filter), and check the ecu for fault codes. A strong spark is really important, so don't forget the battery.  After sitting for months, fuel and battery would at the top of my list.

The ecu will show a fault code for fuel pump, injectors, sensors, etc. A lot of bases are covered.

Well, went out to the shop to get my Drifter running, (haven't run it since last fall except to start for 5-10 minutes a few times this winter) turned the key on, all appropriate lights came on, hit the start button, it turned over about 6 times, I thought "Hmm; that's odd, it usually fires right up". So I hit the starter again, KAPOW!!! it back-fired out the front head pipe. Now it won't start or fire; pulled the plugs, it is firing, ( checked the plugs against the head) and is flooding. Anybody with a solution? Any help is appreciated.
